Black bars on sides when resolution 720 or 1080

When Settings / Display & Sound / Video output / resolution is set from 640 x480 to 720p or 1080p the video on the TV has black bars on the sides that cut off content.

All content is displayed at 640x480.

I've only tried restarting the kit and television.

Xbox is connected via HDMI. This issue did not occur yesterday with the same set up. Power flicker may have occurred.

I dont think my 369 HDMI is outputting 1080p

As far as I understand most of the games are still 720p, so setting the console to output at 1080p just means its getting upscaled to that resolution (in other words a 720 resolution mapped inside a 1080 pixel count). A side by side comparison of 720 vs
1080 will look the same. IMO 720 doesn't look good period, whether native or inside 1080..

1440x900 on Xbox One S

480p = 640x480

720p/i = 1280x720

900p = 1440x900

1080p/i = 1920x1080

900p TVs are a bit of an unusual bunch.

Your Xbox One will output at either 720p or 1080p, depending on your Xbox settings. It does not support output at 900p. The TV should upscale 720p (Xbox output) to 900p (TV resolution), or downscale from 1080p (Xbox output).

As 900p is a resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio, you will either see black bars or a stretched screen on your 900p TV, since 720/1080 resolutions are 16:9 (standard ratio for HDTV).

Satellite box via HDMI to One to 50 Plasma. Optical audio to home theatre from TV. The only issue I have is when I "Xbox On" and "Xbox watch TV" the screen resolution is too low. But when I change the resolution on my satellite box from 720/1080 to 1080/720
from one to the other it fixes it... Kind of weird.

Was running at 1080. Just set my resolution down to 720 and my audio stopped cutting out immediately. Not sure if my TV is rated for 1080.
