Bitstream pass-through causing a delay in audio when resuming a bluray disc

    Hi team,

Having a Dolby Atmos supported surround sound system I was waiting for months for XBOX to finally release the update, now it's here and it's not perfect (or at least not to me).

When I resume a blu-ray disc (please note this disc was only DTS HD Master Audio but I was still using passthrough) there is a 1-2 second delay. So when pausing you need to be very strategic as to not pause as someone is just about to speak.

I know this was an issue on the initial release and it was a bug, but I can't seem to find anything more about it now, and the support pages I saw about this previously seem to have disappeared.

So, is this still an issue with the xbox passthrough system, is it my system having a delay (I came from a PS3 with passthrough and never had an audio delay), and if it is the system is there any published information about a fix, or a bug update?

    Thanks,

    Kurt

    :)

  2. Bitstream support ALL THE WAY or not?

Can somebody please tell me if there ever will be a bitstream audio support for every source on Xbox One S?

I´m in Preview Ring 4, bitstream via Bluray app works for me...but how about general audio bitstream support? Playing files with HD audio via USB (MediaPlayer, VLAN...)...

    Thanks.

When will the XBOX ONE bitstream DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD lossless formats?

What needs to happen is Microsoft needs to let users choose a "preferred" audio codec for Snap. When Snap is engaged and more than one application is being used simultaneously (i.e. TV, movie, and game), then the console should convert the source codecs
into whatever was chosen as the "preferred" Snap audio option.

In the general audio options, there needs to be an option to choose "native bitstream." This option would not force you to choose between DTS or Dolby (as it does today). When only one application is active, then the audio signal for whatever source that
is, should be outputted in its native bitstream format. For instance, if I was watching a Bluray movie and the TV wasn't active and I didn't have any games engaged, then the console should determine what type of audio is native to the disc. If I had selected
"native bitstream" as my audio setting, and if Dolby TrueHD was what was encoded on the Bluray disc, then as the bitstream flowed into my audio receiver, my receive would detect this, light up with the "Dolby TrueHD" identifier, and I would be blessed with
the lossless sound that the filmmakers intended me to hear.

If Microsoft's intention was to make the XBOX One truly the go-to entertainment hub, this is how they should have programmed the console. I hope they do something like this soon. Until then, my TV is not hubbed into my console as I can't stand and abide
by the audio changes it keeps making to the programs I watch. If I had an option to disengage my Bluray viewing like this, trust me, I would.

Using the current "uncompressed" audio isn't true. I suspect that the console is decoding it and then changing it. I know this because when I pass my TV signal through the XB1 console, the left/right/rear channels come out with a subdued clarity and volume,
as opposed to a sound that is very bright and conforms to my volume setting when I bypass the XB1 console.

5.1 Uncompressed audio via HDMI connection

It isn't possible for any TV to pass through uncompressed 5.1 audio but they can pass through Dolby Digital 5.1 format which is compressed.

What you need to do is tell the Xbox to output Bitstream audio via HDMI and set the Bitstream format to Dolby Digital. If you do this your TV will be able to send the 5.1 surround audio to your soundbar via its optical cable.

Subwoofer only works for Blurays... not games or apps

    Thanks for extra info!

Can you share all your audio settings you have set up on your Xbox One? What is the bitstream format you have set up? Let us know so we can best help you out :)

I have My audio settings as

    HDMI audio: 7.1 uncompressed

    Optical audio: off

    Bitstream format is grayed out

On my receiver I show PCM unless watching a bluray

    My bluray settings are

Dolby digital dynamic range control auto and

    Let my receiver decode audio
Also if I change it to bitstream out with dolby digital or DTS I still have no subwoofer output
