Bitstream DTS reported as 5.1 not 7.1

I currently have Xbox One connected to a Sony MDR-HW700DS.

The Xbox One is set to output Bitstream in DTS format.

When using that setting the Sony receiver is showing a 5.1 input, If I set the Xbox One to 7.1 uncompressed, it comes up as 7.1.

How can I get 7.1 in DTS? Using Expendables 2 blu Ray for testing.

Xbox bitsream out 7.1 system

Hello all. Just got a hold of a 7.1 surround sound system and was messing with the audio settings. I like to run bitstream out so the signal is all converted by my a/v receiver. I have an onkyo tx-NR646. The issue I'm having is when I select bitsream out
is the Xbox is only sending out a 5.1 signal. I think halo 5 is 7.1 compatible but it shows only 5.1. And from what I understand if you use 7.1 uncompressed its not true 7.1 its an up converted 5.1 signal. I like dts and would love to have dts bitstream to
7.1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It does or at least the next update does.

Settings-->Display & sound:

- Digital Audio:

1. HDMI audio (stereo uncompressed, 5.1 uncompressed, 7.1 uncompressed, Bitstream out)

2. Optical audio (Off, Stereo uncompressed, Bitstream out)

-if u select Bitstream out (DTS Digital Surround, Dobly Digital)

 

Maybe it's the Blu Ray only providing DTS in 5.1 Are the provided audio formats listed on the Blu Ray?

 

Yeah, the blu-Ray has up to 11.1 (DTS Neo) on this disc. I'll try another one and see if I get the same issue.

Is there any difference in quality between uncompressed and DTS?

 

Same issue on another 7.1 disc

 

Afaik DTS provides a little bit better audio quality as DD, but I'm not sure if you may hear a difference, when using 7.1
