Bit miffed

Being the very lucky owner of the fabulous XB1 and the rival system, im feeling extremely miffed at the moment.

Updates are updates, game, system, you name it, if it needs an update, it gets done!! ok.

What really peeves me off, is when you buy a game and the updates as big as a not quite filled Bluray disc!!

On my rival system, most updates are generally around 200mb in size, the biggest to date on XB1 is some 16GIG!!!!!

While thats fine for people with true, unlimited broadband, for us unfortunately enough to have a limited metered connection, these sizes suck big time!!

One XB1 game cost me nearly TWICE the amount i paid for it, just to get enough Mbytes to download its update!!

I love my Xbox, but these downloads are too much. If a game comes out on both systems, my other systems going to win out.

I'm a bit miffed about the Acolyte pistol, that was my go-to for my casters.

 

Yep,i am in the same position when it comes to broadband limits, no doubt some others are too without realising it.

Many suppliers claim to be unlimited but if you read the small print you will find a fair use policy on many of them.

My unlimited broadband has a 100gb per month limit,just setting up the console and a couple of games would eat that up in no time.

Add to that ,a 16gb download would probably take about 3 days at my speed.

 

PATCHES BE CRAZY YO. LOL. Does sony use compression on their files to make them smaller to download?

 

I don't know if Msoft has skipped ahead in the world about 10 years, when broadband is as cheap as an icecream, but, from my standpoint, this is plainly ridiculous. Compression technology has been around as long as the PC almost. I'm almost at the point
of getting rid of my XB1, so far, it's been 3 hours downloading an expensive update|! locking it down! Grrh

 

Sorry to hear that guys. 16gb is a lot to deal with, especially when your internet is limited. Things clearly need to change, but I think ISPs need to change for the better though.

 

why was xbox 360 maxed games was no bigger than 9gb to download than when i get aa xbox one its 40gb? lol but anyway i also have a limit and usually gets to wait 10 days without internet before mine restarts

 

Yeah its a lot to download. A lot of people can't go digital because of size. I think the largest game is battlefield 4 and it's 40gbs.

 

GRADY, When you buy a disk verion your still installing the WHOLE game. so if you bought Battlefield 4 you will still be installing thos 40GBs as if you were downloading it digitally.

 

Forza 5 is also a whopping 40 gigs. I got it as a DLC card and have redeemed it but don't dare press on download and wont download as it would take a large portion of download. 16 gig updates are also insane. I hope not all games have updates that huge.

 

It could be that software developers are being put under so much pressure to release games quick, they just throw ' em out, and patch em up. Then we get the massive downloads. Following this principle, you would never except ordering an omelette and the
waiter bringing you a runny mess but says, hey its ok, just cook it for 5 minutes.

 

A 40gb download is just ridiculous.

Have they added external drives yet?

 

A 16gb patch?

The largest I recall downloading for my PC was around 2gb for Arkham Origins.

16gb is a game, not a patch.
