Im more technical than my friend but on his account we updated his card on his account and is unable to make any purchases on the account getting something lie a authorization error the original card on his account got lost so it had to get replaced the
card number was the same except for expiration date and security code i updated the information but gotten no where i updated the information through my computer for him and tried to update it again and still get the error

I have added a new payment option on my account and have already been billed on it but am recieving emails from MS that they cannot charge my other card that I closed months ago. I cannot delete this card because MS is trying to charge it. What do I do
to resolve this?

You can't remove it because you owe money on it. You can try swapping the balance to a different card at commerce.microsoft.com or you can contact support and have them change the balance to a different card for you.

 

When the new card was entered was it made the primary purchase card and then the old one removed? If not you should do that.

For further problems your friend will need to contact either his bank or phone support for Xbox for more assistance.

 

i tried to enter his new card but it was just the same card number with a change in security code and expiration date i updated the info but he is gonna check with his bank today though to see what is going on it wouldnt let me remove his card for reentry
because like me he has a gold subscription but has auto renewal turned on and we dont know how to turn that off (got a error saying card is already on account with his debit card)

 

If your friend cannot see an option to cancel the auto renewal on the page linked below then he should contact phone support and they can shut it off for him.
