    Billing Autopay Question


    Hello everyone,

    I haven't been on xbox live in a few months. Recently I received a 30 day xbox live gold prepaid card and tried using it. I successfully added the code, but was not allowed on xbox live due to billing issues. Unknown to me, I have been billed for the last
    few months via autopay, and eventually this card ran out of funds. When it ran out of funds, it continued charging me for another two months of xbox live. I won't be able to remove my credit card as a payment method until I pay microsoft for these months.
    I contacted support, which resulted in having my 30 day xbox live gold prepaid card cancelled, which I am hoping I can re-use in the future somehow.

    But my main question now is about autopay, as I am having issues turning it off. I have signed into my account, clicked subscriptions, but I see no options to enable or disable autopay? The only available links on the page are to buy xbox gold, or xbox music
    pass. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    I have been gaming on xbox consoles since the first generation console was released. I prefer xbox to playstation for many reasons. I also prefer to pay with my debit or credit card, for convenience. Now EVERY time I have ever renewed my subscription, it
    puts me on autopay, even though I select not to. I have heard of the same problem from many of my friends. I am a full time student and I work full time as well. That being said, I dont get to play much anymore and some months I cant really afford to subscribe
    to GOLD. I have YET AGAIN been put on auto pay, and I am very unhappy about it. I wont call and badger some poor phone representative, but I want to say, if this happens again, I will cancel my xbox subscriptions completely, and trade my xbox for a playstation.
    I dont want to do this, but if I cannot trust your payment methods, I will move on.

    hi, well lets answer your first problem, now was there a message on your xbox saying that your gold was getting renewed? two you cant use the membership again once you deleted your membership

    hey thanks for the reply, but no I did not see any message. I went to "redeem code" and entered it, then it appeared to process the code, then the error message appeared saying there was an issue with my billing and I needed to contact support.

    and I'm not sure what you mean by "two you cant use the membership again once you deleted your membership". I haven't actually deleted my membership, I still have the same gamertag and everything. They just cancelled the prepaid xbox live gold code, I think
    I will be able to reuse it in the future, once my billing is squared away. In the meantime I just want to turn off autopay, but still have not figured it out.

    Sorry but you'll need to contact phone support again to have them turn it off. Also, if you have another card or paypal that you can use to pay the owed amount you can add that and have support take the overdue payment from there.

    After that you'll have a small wait (approx. 48 hours) until the locks are removed from the account. Until you pay off the owed amount you will not be able to add or purchase anything for that account.

    Thanks for the answers. I'll give phone support a call tomorrow to disable autopay, then repay the money I owe once I have it.

    Really wish there was some kind of system in place to save people from making stupid mistakes like I did. For example, if an account has the autopay feature on, but the account is not active for over 30 days, then the autopay feature is temporarily disabled,
    until the person signs back on, and can then re-enable the autopay feature.

    Thanks for the answers. I'll give phone support a call tomorrow to disable autopay, then repay the money I owe once I have it.
