BF4 taking over 7 hours to get to 12% installation

There was a recent update release for BF4, and it is only about 750mb. It shouldn't be my connection considering the fact that everything else is working via WiFi. I started the update at 3pm and it is currently 9:25pm and it is only at 12%. I cancelled
and resumed, and restarted my Xbox. This isn't the first time it has taken over 6 hours to install something. What is the problem? Is my console defective? Any answers will help, thanks!

    :)

my xbox one is acting weird

Doing a hard reboot usually helps. Completely shut off the Xbox and unplug the power cord. Plug it back in after about a minute and then boot up. It should help. My BF4 was taking 4 hours to get to 50% so I stopped the installation completely and rebooted.
I restarted the installation and it took about 45-60min

INTERNET IS A MESS RIGHT, INSANELY SLOW DOWNLOAD SPEEDS

Last week it took my BF4 almost 12 hours to Install in my HD from a physical Disk!! That was around the same time the LATEST update or patch was made available for the BF4 a little over a week ago, that was REALLY slow.

It only took me 30 minutes to Download a copy of NHL 2013 on my 360 yesterday roughly 7-8 gigs.

The reason it take forever to install is because the install % also includes the download % of the update, x1 games updates are gigs instead of the 360's megs.

So you're saying that it is normal that it has been almost 24 hours, and it is only at 60%? That sounds a little strange to me. Microsoft really messed up on this one.

How fast is your internet connection?

Go to detailed network stats in the settings app to get download speed.

It shouldn't matter how fast the Internet is considering that the game has begun installation. No, it shouldn't take that long. One time it was taking me about 2 hours just to get to 15% for Battlefield 4. So I cancelled the installation, pushed the Xbox
button to shut it off completely and I unplugged it from the wall outlet. I waited 30 seconds and plugged it back in and booted up the console. Then I restarted the installation and it took about 50 minutes to fully install Battlefield 4.

It does matter how fast your internet connection is.

    .

Title updates for the xbox one are massive compared to what they are for the xbox 360.

    .

Part of the installation time is the time it takes to download the updates. If you have a slow connection or if you are on a congested wifi channel your installation will take ages.

    .

It is now quite common for game updates to be hundreds of megabytes in size. On a slow connection this will cause downloads to take hours. Average update for 360 is less than 6MB. On xbox one they often over 600MB. I think BF4 was over 900MB when I last
    updated it.

    .

That's why I asked for your download speed. If your download speed is slow then that will be the reason. If your download speed is fast then there will be some other problem.

Strange, When this update came to me, I pressed Update, went to bathroom to clean my Glasses, i came back 20 secs later and it was at 98%, so i was pretty surprised it was that quick actually

EDIT: Have to say, i do have 150 mb p/s connection, so ehm, yeah, could be because of that

  10. It's your Internet connection speed, no doubt about that. Try connecting it thru a cable in your router and see the difference. From WIFI to connected in my case it's about 10x faster (cabled).

And Ticoman are you serious that you were surprised at 150m/s your speed is roughly 15megs/sec so 300megs should take less then 20 sec.

The connection is VERY slow. But I don't understand why the game just doesn't update, rather than reinstall all over again taking over a day. I decided to take my Xbox to a friends house with high speed road runner, which is much faster than my DSL... (I
know I'm working on getting away from DSL, I'm tight with money but DSL is NO exception I found out) The game ended up reinstalling and took about an hour to completely install and update. I still don't understand why the game has to fully reinstall rather
    than update.

Thank you for all the replies, I really appreciate the feedback!

It doesnt reinstall. It just looks like it is because updates overwrite original files. But because your internet is very slow it seems like it takes forever.

Unfortunately this is is going to be a common thing.

Today i had to download the biggest game update ive ever seen. A whopping 13GB for Dead Rising 3.

Im lucky I have a fast fibre optic connection so it didnt take long but I dread to think how long it would take with a slow connection.

Until you get a fast connection the only thing i can suggest is to make sure the console is in instant on mode which should allow updates to download automatically overnight while console is off in standby mode
