BF4 needs an update

For some reason I cannot get BF4 to update. When I go to load the game I keep getting the "Battlefield 4 needs an update, but something went wrong" message. I've went to the xbox.com/xboxone/update/help and did everything short of the offline diagnostic
tool (because it isn't a system update, just a game update) and it hasn't helped. Is there another way to get this working? I basically have a $60 game plus premium that I paid for that is just a book stop now.

Xbox One crashing in the middle of a game!

Same thing happening to me as well with BF4, but only with BF4 (DR3 and ACIV not affected). Believe it's an issue with the game that EA/DICE needs to address with a patch/update.

 

xb1 would not play a disc

a part of me is hoping that BF4 got the needed bug update fix and maybe the xb1 needed a reeboot after,maybe that was it ,,fingers crossed

 

Is it just today it has started occuring dude ?. I know the China Rising DLC is out for Premium members today, it could be something to do with that.

This happened to me last week with the Titanfall update, then I checked with Ghosts and the same thing happened. I did a little digging in the support forums and found the solution: Hard reboot. With your xbox on, hold the main power button, (the X,)
on the front of the console for 5-10 seconds. It will power down, then they suggest unplugging it from your wall outlet for 30 seconds. (not sure how that helps but that's what they said to do.) Plug it back in, fire it up and try for your update. It did
the trick for me, hope it works for you!

 

Yea, I already tried that stupid method, twice. I just now tried it again, but actually pulled the plug from the wall, power brick and back of the xbox for 1 minute and then plugged them all back in and it still didn't help any. It's nice to know that a
simple update can render your game useless on the One. I don't even want to attempt to go over phone and try to solve this issue. Not only does it take 3 hours out of my day that is already cut short because of 10-12 hour shifts at work, but then going through
all the BS "press this number for English, press this number for games" then getting someone who is from fraking India that can't even speak English and you can't understand a thing they say and you end up hanging up on them and calling again, wasting another
30 minutes jumping through hoops hoping and praying to get someone who speaks plain English. AHHHHH!!!!!

 

And I also didn't have this problem until this Dragon's Teeth (I'm assuming) update came out. I was playing BF4 2 weeks ago and had no issues. No other games are doing this, yet...

Well I decided to start uninstalling things from the hard drive and re-installing them in hopes that it would clear the "cache" and force the update to work and it did. I uninstalled the base game first (35.6GB, NOT THE 47+GB ALL OR THE 1.9MB SAVE DATA)
and re-installed it and the game started up and booted fine. I'm installing Dragon's Teeth now. It's pretty stupid M$ hasn't found this as a problem and posted this simple solution on their site yet. Oh well. Hope someone else stumbles across this thread and
finds it useful if they have the same issue as me later down the road.

 

You only need the "latest" update on BF4, like its always been.

 

Don't know what that has to do with anything in this thread, but ok...

 

I may have read it wrong, but I thought you couldnt play BF4 because you couldnt get the latest update. Clearing cache' and reinstalling is nothing new.

 

I couldn't get the latest update, but it was because it kept giving me that "Something went wrong" error message and I couldn't find a work around from Microsoft.
