BF4 had an update!?

If the Update is as big as your posts G, I think I'll pass XD. Jokes. Last time I played BF4 was over a month ago. My friends complain about having to do Updates on Xbox 360. Wait until they see the size of the Updates which are on Xbox 1... their hair will
stand up. The monthly system updates have been around 200-300mb and game updates can easily reach 3GB, 200mb if lucky. The first Minecraft Update for Xbox 1 was about 300mb big.

 

note to self: dont buy any EA/Dice game until atleast a year later when the paying customers aka beta testers get done helping make the game playable. eh, screw it..i'll just try my hardest to steer clear of EA altogether. Dice needs to kick them to the
curb and release these games when they know they're ready, not when EA comes in and tells them its time to be ready.

 

I played some bf4 the other day got no update and it felt no diff. did u have to update bf4 on ur own or was it already updated

 

For me it was already updated. If you're not sure, you can go into the options menu and see if there's "advanced options" at the bottom of the controls and gameplay tabs - if it's there, then you've got the update.

I have to say the new icons are pretty sweet as well as the way they change size. I particularly like the timer on the assault class when they see a downed teammate - that's incredibly useful. I also didn't know that charging the paddles gave your friends
more health and discovered that through the update. However, I'm not so sure about the changes to some of the reticles - most of them IMO, actually look worse than before. Why would they change that?

 

BF4 was my first and last Dice game I will ever buy. It left such a bad impression.

 

I say hate the developers/publishers, not the game.

 

Hai everyone. I haven't played BF4 for at least 2 months. Yes I have the disc version not the digital of it. I just started the game for the first time in at least 2 months and I didn't have to download any update. Usually if a game has an Update especially
on Xbox 1 update sizes can be huge easily 3GB or 6GB and the Dashboard tells me "time for an update". Does your Xbox 1 do updates for games even if the update for a game doesn't need the disc inside the console? Honestly since it's been a while since I last
played BF4, I was expecting a Dashboard messaging saying "it's time for a update" or this game needs an update.

I know Xbox 1 does updates in the background especially when it's in standby mode. I'm surprised the Dashboard did this update without telling me. I'm in a team death match game as I'm typing this on my laptop. I just dashboarded out a quit it.

"Make love not war". It's this deodorant or perfume ad that I've seen advertised by some NZ retailers. I got the game from JB Hi fi on 23/11/2013 I keep the receipts for my games, and have hardly played it. I got it because JB was selling it $20 below the
RRP and that Xbox was advertising it like 'this game is a must have!'. Even when I paid the man at the counter his facial expression was like 'welcome to the club'.

 

Another thing this update adds is the all-new "classic" mode, which after reading about it, seems to be EXACTLY what I wanted regarding a hybrid between the
normal and hardcore modes!

I see no difference in the netcode improvement. Still feels the same to me, no better, no worse. Some things I don't like about the update is the new hit markers and the new clunky, robotic looking startup sprint animation. They nerfed grenade counts which
weren't a problem unless you played Metro or Locker. All in all the new patch was a step backwards if you ask me.

 

After more time with the game, I'll have to actually agree with the net code aspect. As it turns out when I initially tried it, my brother was gone for the weekend and not hogging up my network. When he came back, it was back to the same old cruddy issues.
IMO, BF3 (after a few months of release) had the best netcode I've seen for a BF game - this is close, but not better as far as I can tell (of course, that could just be because it's sending more info through my pipeline then BF3 did).

As for the new hit-markers, I like them, but they can be harder to see - they're more dynamic and higher resolution. Ironically, the crosshairs on many of the scopes seem to have been reduced in resolution and I don't like that at all (not sure why they
would do that either).

Regarding sprinting, I haven't taken any notice to "clunky, robotic-looking" animations - I'll look at it a bit more closely next time I play.

Nerfing the grenade counts is a necessity IMO considering the exact levels you've mentioned. The reduction of explosive and grenade regeneration from ammo boxes will help with that too. I hated getting killed by a grenade or explosive every 5 seconds - That's
not what a firefight should be.

 

@GG, I'll get used to everything. It just takes me time. You know, you finally get a feel for the game and DICE changes it up a year later. Don't they know I'm a slow learner?

 

Poor Mogwai... We should play it together soon.
