    Beyond irritated with Microsoft Support regarding my gamertag


    My husband purchased Xbox Live back in 2008 when we were dating and I have been using this Gamertag ever since. When I signed up, I had used a yahoo email account. I no longer use that email and I cannot get back into it if I wanted to.

    In the past, I have forgotten my passwords but managed to get it fixed. The last time I used my Gamertag was a year ago in October playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and stopped because we had a baby. Now that I want to get back into gaming, I can no longer
    get back on to my Gamertag because the password was wrong, even though I didn't change it at all or touched it for over a year and I have tried every single password I can think of.

    I have been on the phone with 'support' for 4 hours to people I cannot even understand to begin with. The support team kept telling me my yahoo email address is not connected to my Gamertag which is a total lie because I see it right on my tv screen as we
    spoke. It is not connected to any other Microsoft email, now it is? Then they tell me the Microsoft email is connected to a different Gamertag? Then she had me fill out a Verification form recover it and said it'll take them 24 hours to get back to me. Within
    5 minutes, they emailed me saying I didn't have enough evidence to prove who I was. WHAT IS GOING ON?!

    I have racked up achievement points and finished some games on this gamertag and I do NOT want to lose it. I just need someone to listen to me for once and give me my password. I have never had this many problems before with Microsoft and I'm beyond irritated.

    Thank you for taking the time to post this on the Xbox Forums. We understand that you are currently experiencing difficulties with accessing your account.

    If you have lost access to you account, and the security proofs on your account are no up-to-date, then filling out the
    ACSR form is the only way to recover your account.

    There is an article that covers
    how to reset or recover your Microsoft account password
    , and this would be the most effective way to re-acquire access to your account.

    As far as updating the security information on your account, you would be able to use
    this link to force adding an additional alias to your account, however, without being able to sign into your account, you would be unable to successfully use it.

    It is likely that if you manage to reset the password on your account, you will be prompted to update the security info immediately, which will allow you to secure your account to prevent this occurring in the future.

    Give this another try, and let us know if this works for you.
