    Seriously regretting my decision to gift my son an Xbox One on his 10th birthday!! Within first month the device showed some error, which required console replacement. Fine, that happens.. So we go create service order online - and the ordeal begins!!

    First service order created on 26 April 2016 (exactly one month ago) and still showing "order in progress"!!

    After spending hours on chat / calls with the "SERVICE CENTER" I was told that the console was shipped to my home and they even gave me a UPS tracking number - of course it never came. Finally after 3 weeks they figured out that the console was shipped to
    Hong Kong service centre and somebody *** up there. I was never informed and apparently "order was closed!" (though on my screen its still showing order in progress (as above)!!

    As a remedy to this mess, after 3 weeks (and after consulting some mysterious "Hardware Specialists") they created another service order on 18 May. I was told that within 48-72 hours they will inform me about when the console will be ready to pick up at
    Hong Kong service centre.

    So after one week I am again calling a number for "Hong Kong Service Centre" - which goes to Redmond most likely and guess what - they have no clue. Only answers I get is that they will check with "Hardware Specialist" and revert or I can call back. Of course
    nobody ever reverts.

    I am so royally *** off with Microsoft - and their "Service" (???!!!) Centre that I just want to return this console and get my money back!! So I asked the "manager" who was talking to me on the call - about the procedure? And guess what - he again asked
    me to call tomorrow!!

    I am not sure what kind of call/"service" centre Microsoft runs? If the poor guys facing angry customer like me have no information in their system nor any authority or control to intervene and service the clients then what are they supposed to do??

    Also, I don't think anyone from Microsoft reads and replies / acts on these posts (too much to expect, no?) but I just want to name-and-shame through this post and tell ALL prospective Xbox buyers - Beware of Microsoft "Service"!!!

    Microsoft has long lost it to its competitors - and here I saw first hand how it is on the way to become the next Nokia!!

    I'm sorry for this whole ordeal, Your links will have to be blocked since it does provide the consoles information serial number etc i will PM a mod about that and since it's a big problem i would also like to let you know if you where still under warranty
    you could've gotten a replacement at your local retailer instead of shipping it. If you contact

  5. Thanks.. Frankly I don't care much about console number because those are pieces of junk anyway. And have no hope to get replacement!!

    And yes - I wanted to take it to retailer for walk-in replacement. But the way it works in Hong Kong is that you need to first launch the service order and take it to service center only when they have the replacement ready and they call you. That's where
    my ordeal started and is still ongoing..

    The serial number is addressed to every console. Each and everyone who owns a Xbox one / 360 will get a special serial code in case they need to request repairs online.

    I'd check the link i provided earlier which could provide better info on this topic. If you already read it and it still doesn't help i'd contact the support chat and tell them that your console was lost and requires a replacement.

    Getting a current generation console is still worth the expense. If you buy a used console, beware of who you're buying from as consoles can be banned from Xbox services and people try to resell them. As others have mentioned, Microsoft will be supporting
    the Xbox family of games and consoles for a few years after the release of the Xbox Series X. There are some console sales right now on the official Xbox website here.
