Better cable upscaling through xbox or straight to TV

I have an Xbox one s. I’ve used the Xbox one and s as a media device. I run my Seattle Comcast into my Xbox then out to my tv rather than running the cable right to the tv. Now I have a 4k tv and am wondering if Xbox degraded the upscaling and if I’d get a better cable picture not using Xbox. Asking as I wasn’t sure if this had been discussed before. Thanks.

Do I HAVE to use it??

Can I hook up the Xbox 1 straight into the tv and not through my cable box and just play it straight and keep my cable TV separate?

4k from cable box through Xbox day one edition

    Hi Ringers,

Thanks for coming to the forums. Unfortunately, the original Xbox one is not set up for 4K. You will get the highest resolution that the Xbox puts out which is 1080p and will not upscale to 4K. If you want 4K from the cable box best to run it straight to
    the TV.

    Thanks,

    Brad

The component cables seem to work fine, both straight into the tv and through the roxio

Just one little question for the HD guys out here.

HDMI is a non-issue. I don't want HDMI. My audio isn't a problem, my surround sound system is just old but was 799 back when I bought it. I need to know if when I view a dvd if I need to switch from component cables to VGA cables, b/c according to much of
what I see the 360 will not upscale dvd through component only through HDMI/VGA. I could just run my 360 audio into the TV the run the TV's audio out to my surround but then my audio get compressed then decompressed and I loose quality. Mainly just wondering
about the Component/VGA debate for dvds through the 360. My TV itself will upscale up to 1080i via component, but I worry that if I just use component, my xbox wont upscale therefore neither will the TV. Thanks all the same Nado.

Maybe someone can help me? a/v issues not resolved via online support

Why even fiddle with doing the cable pass through? Hook the Xbox straight to the avr and cable separate straight to ur avr and one out to ur TV from ur avr. If everything is high end one should not want nothing in between messing or degrading ur audio/video.

I'd run components straight to the TV but obviously one must hit the avr first for sound.

Anyways sound like a handshake prob with the HDMI where the TV/avr must be on first.
