Beta update

The "beta channel" won't go away because the beta is NOT OVER. The system update that we downloaded is NOT the same as the beta. The beta is for the disc format change, which was not part of that update.

The only update that should be out now is the beta update. Public release update happened 2 weeks ago which is 1.11. Anything higher is the beta.

If you signed out of the beta then the world won't be able to be played on until the next update is released.

Incorrect. It will update the game to the equivalent of Beta 1.7.3 release. There have been many many many updates since then on the PC. After the 1.7.3. patch, they will work on updating the game to the equivalent of Beta 1.8 (the Adventure Update).
No word on timing on the Beta 1.8 update, although the developer has noted that, given the amount of changes to the game in Beta 1.8, it is much more challenging than Beta 1.7.3. After that, they will just ahead and patch the game to the current version
(so the scuttlebut goes).

It's not possible to get the beta update on any other consoles now. This is because beta registration is closed. You can only gain access to the beta forums with the profile that registered for the beta. Unfortunately, for the time being until this update is
released to the public sometime later this year (Fall 2013) you can only make purchases on the console that has the beta update on it.
