    Beta program almost bricking console.


    Last night my Xbox decided to download the latest OS beta while I was at work. It almost ended up bricking my console with the amount of resetting it took to finally be functional enough to factory reset it without crashing.

    Symptoms included: - loading into games would crash the game at some point during title sequence - loading into game would crash immediately fter clicking to launch app - game would seem to be running fine, then would freeze shortly after title sequence - laggy, freezing menus (any menu you can think of, including the store) - full console crashes - soft crashes - blank game tiles - no Bluetooth capabilities - no wifi capabilities

    I highly suggest NOT downloading this beta version until the NEXT update. I spoke to a support specialist last night and that's what he told me. He said with what I experienced it had to be the OS preview.

    I've gone through the posts and it seems like I'm definitely not the only one having this problem.

    Please pass this message along as much as possible to people wanting to join the insiders program. The only way I was able to fix it was removing myself from the preview, factory resetting, and then doing a hard console restart during an initial failed console set up.

    is there a warranty ??

    Well there is for if an update from the beta program caused your system to break. But doesnt cover hardware issues.only for if the beta 'bricks' your xbox or something

    Xbox enrolled in beta, update installed and was supposed to restart, now will not turn on.

    Have you contacted customer support about a replacement power brick?

    Also be sure to post about this in the beta program forums as there as someone may be able to help you since this happened with a beta update.

    Xbox one seems to think a network cable is connected when one isn't.

    Same here, the console almost seems bricked in relation to online use, the cause however an elusive one.......

    i have seen many people in the Insider Program has had their Xbox bricking on them. I’ve had minor issues where I have had to just restart my console but just now my console has fully bricked. This has happened on multiple consoles of mine and I just purchased
    a Xbox one x around 6 months ago. I have reset my console to factory settings and I am highly disappointed. Has anyone else’s having these problems this far into 2018?
    I never had an issue being in the alpha ring of the insider program for years with my Xbox One. Since I got my Xbox One X in Feb...I have had to do 3 or 4 factory resets. One of them needing to be a complete reset (deleting all of my games and apps). Thankfully
    all of my games are on an external hard drive so they didn't need to be reinstalled like the apps on my internal did.

    So in my opinion...upgrading to an X makes the insider program a much more risky venture than just having a standard Xbox One.

    Any problems you are having with the insider program should be directed to the the insider support group so they are aware of what is going on and those issues can be addressed.
