Best Way to Play Music on XBone

So, I know this has probably been asked before, but some questions about music on XBone:

1. What is, in your experience, the best way to play your own music on the Xbox, not just for gaming but just for listening?

2. Is using a Chromecast through the TV input worth considering?

3. Are there any better apps for playing your own music from an external drive?

4. Does anyone know if there are any serious plans to update the Media Player app?

The reason I ask is that I find the media player incredibly frustrating to use, for the following reasons:

A. It's crashes regularly when playing music from a large collection.

B. If you accidentally hit "back" while playing some music, it's exits and you cannot go straight back to where you were just listening.

C. The user interface is pretty poor.

Trying to sync my 360 to media player on my laptop.

Anyway man, I'm not too sure if the 360 and a Laptop would be compatible in that way.

Best way to go about playing music on your actual console would be to just copy some music onto a USB drive and play it through the Xbox guide while playing a game.

Streaming Music while Playing Xbox360 Live

I know about playing music on 360 while playing a game but only I can hear the music so my question is:

What's the best / cheap way of Streaming music while playing 360 games so others i'm playing with Online can hear the same music that's playing on my 360 ? or is there a way to do that on 360 ?

 

Best way is not through the Xbox one

 

I put my music on Amazon's cloud player and listen to it that way on the One.

To be honest though if I am streaming I use the 360 for it. It's by far the better option at the moment.

 

I rip my music from my CDs and play my music from a portable hard drive using the media player app.

 

I usually use the 360 as I have all my music ripped to it. If I really feel the need to use the X1, I use a USB stick, I just hate loosing a big chunk of My screen to snap though.

 

What I like about the 360 is that it can play music and video burnt to a CD or DVD as data. This lets me put a lot of MP3s on a disc or a season of Doctor Who as .mp4.

The One can only play audioCDs or DVD/blu-ray from its drive.

It's not really a great issue but I do have the stuff I don't use often backed up onto disc. It's really convenient to just pop them into the 360 to watch or listen over having to rip them to my PC first, to then put on a USB stick or stream.

Even after over a year the One is still behind the 360 as a capable media unit. How long do we have to give it before "they'll fix it eventually" stops being a valid excuse.

Play music in the background is a future feature on Xbox one.

If it's taking so long,it's because it will come with some other Windows 10 features....

There was an article linked to a thread,about this, weeks ago....

 

The Xbox 360 didn't need Windows 10 to play music in the background. Are you seriously telling me they couldn't have made it work with Windows 8?

Other than that i don't know and i don't care.

I don't listen music while i'm playing,even turn off in game music,when it's possible.

Why does it take Windows 10 to play music in the background, why hold back a basic feature?

You should read Eurogamer' article in a thread named " New SDK universal apps and custom soundtracks".

It won't answer your question but will give you an idea what to expect.

 

Do you have a link to that article - did a google search and found a link to "Xbox One universal apps will run in the background", which only briefly mentions that you can therefore play music in the background.

I know this has gone round and round, but seriously, why has this been so hard to implement. Surely Windows 8 is capable of running multiple apps without sharing the screen for them? I'm not even that interested to play my own music during games, but I definitely
expect a £400 modern console to be able to play my music collection well, and with ease, which is can't, which is crazy!
