    Best way to fix overheating/crashing for the Xbox series X?


    Hi community,

    I’ve been having issues with games crashing for what I think is an overheating problem. Let me go into detail with this because I’ve done a lot of researching and testing and not sure what else to do. I get on a game such as Elden Ring, play for about 15-20 minutes and it crashes, and I can definitely tell the Xbox is hot when it happens. This is what I have done to try to resolve it. I moved it to a spot where there is no obstruction of air flow, I have unplugged it, waited, plugged back in. I have done a Hard and soft reset, I have cleared the cache, I opened it up and cleaned throughly where air flows and the fan. Then I lowered the resolution. And still nothing. Now I have turned off Auto HD and HDR and finally lowered it to 720p. Turning those off and using 720p finally let me play without it crashing but it still feels hot plus now I am playing with really bad resolution to a point where words are blurry. I am thinking of getting an extra cooling fan from Amazon to help the overheating, that will run me $40. If that last thing doesn't work I will have no choice but to take it to a tech repair. Anybody know what I should do?

    Atm its an ongoing issuse, i find it happening most with AC:Val and COD:CW. It happens also with Rouge Company and MK11Ultimate.

    Anyone else experienced their Roku tv overheating when playing x series or its games. (Ex. Gotham knights?)

    It was the tv...was told that the resolution produced by the series X is a little much for it so it overheated. Ubreak fixed the issue.

    Not Solved: Xbox series X crashing to dashboard or completely shutting off all together

    I have the exact same problem with our brand new series x. Thought it was overheating but after troubleshooting, it is completely shutting off around 9-15 minutes. I factory reset and the time between crashes is longer--45 minutes--but still crashing. Same result with different games. Seems silly to return the xbox for a new with the possibility of the same thing happening. Any resolution on how to fix this ASAP is desired!

    Mine goes off after 2 to 3 hours of gameplay. Xbox ambassador advised me to carry out a soft reset on the console.

    Believe it may be an issue with overheating. Both Xbox Series X games and normal games seem to be crashing for me.
