best router/modem for xbox live

what is the best modem/router for xbox live with centurylink isp provider?

they recommend an Actiontec C1000A. I only use wired connections for my PC and both Xbox 360s, for my smart phones I use the wireless of course.

Any suggestions?

Need help with xbox live

My xbox(s) have been messin up lately, The wireless one used to do this alot but now my hard wired one right to the router doesnt like connecting have the time even tho we have internet going.. i think there is issues with XBL period lately. Best bet man is unplug your router and modem, wait a min then plug just your modem.. let it turn on and go online, then plug in your router. reset ur box and see if it works

Anyone else getting high ping on XBL

Did you just answer yourself? Unplug your router and modem, let the modem boot up first and fully before plugging in your router.

Also it sounds like there were service alerts last night for xbox live. Did you check those out to make sure? And where are you in the world, the more hops it has to make the slower it's going to be.Click to expand...

I've power cycled the router/modem and also have done the same for my xbox. I'm in Michigan, so in dedicated server games my best connection has always been the US east region but now it's Europe.... I have no clue

I have Xfinity/ (apprx 25 download & 6 upload), I use whatever router they gave me and my PC & Router are hardwired in, the wifi on that one is crappy, we can't get it to stay connected. I use a Netgear Dual band router, it's a couple of years old, but model
WNDR3400 if you want to look up the specifics. 3 xboxes running on wifi (2 on xbl, one streaming netflix), a wii (streaming netflix) and 3 smartphones (texting/surfing) run off of it with no noticable issues/slowdowns. I can break my setup/usage down a little
more but it does just fine for about 50$ when I bought it.

Tater I also have Xfinity and have trouble with my 360 staying connected... It is the stock router they gave me. Did you say you used the stock router, but also have a second NetGear?

From the research I've done into this modem/router, it seems to be notorious for not playing nice with Xbox Live (NAT errors, problems connecting, etc). Bridging the modem with a BYO router is very often suggested as the best course of action. For assistance
with bridging, you'll need to contact AT&T.

To be totally honest, your best bet is to first try to troubleshoot the router/modem with the connectivity departmart at the support ph# and if that does not work replace the router and our modem to something compatible. There would be no way to cancel the
2yr live contract AND keep the xbox without paying off the rest of the xbox (aka early termination fee).

sorry to hear. Best practice, if the
"XBOX Live Service" reports no problems,

Switch off the console
then restart the router/modem
while the Router/Modem boot up, diconnect the powercable from your console (for at least 30 seconds)
after the Router/Modem is back restart your console
try if now the update start

If this does not help to start the update, you have to delete the game and redownload it again.
