Best over-ear headset?

I've finally gotten back into gaming to the point where I feel like an over ear head set would benefit my play. I had a turtle beach for my 360 and I loved it. With that being said, my friend has a microsoft xbox over ear headset and he says it gets the
job done just fine. I was wondering if anyone out there who has owned either, or any over ear head set for that matter, would be willing to share some opinions on what I should get. Price range is preferably under $100. I really just want it for games like
rainbow six siege where surround sound is everything and my tv sound just isn't cutting it. Thanks!

Perfect gaming headphones for Xbox one

For sound isolation, I recommend either closed-back over the ear, or in-ear style earbuds.

The Xbox Controller with 3.5mm adapter and the Xbox Controller Stereo Adapter are both able to use standard Android earbud style headphones and maintain microphone compatibility. (the iPhone compatible headsets aren't compatible with the microphone)

in game voice very low .... XBOX ONE query/help ....

I know it sounds stupid but try moving the headset around your ear when people are talking. From my experience if ear piece is not sitting directly over ear people sound very distant.

 

You should be able to get a set of Turtle Beach XO4's for your price range.

I had the X11's (like 10 dollar turtle beach headset) for "Dead Space" and thought it was a real waste of money because nothing seemed to be coming from the right direction... until I realised they had an "L" and an "R" and I had them on backwards. What
a difference!

Bought the XO4's because of that mean and nasty Alien in "Alien: Isolation" and now I know when it's above, below, behind or before.

Should be bang on your budget (XO7's are the same headset with the added feature of being able to change the plates over the ear pieces so you can... uhhh... look your best while gaming).

 

Afterglow AG9, completely wireless, $100 in the US or £60 in the UK.

They don't have some options the more expensive ones do but value for money, sound quality is excellent and they do an amazing job.

I got the XO4's. Very good.

 

The XO7s are a better headset imo as they have the better ear cups rather than the 'cheap' material ones. Can pick them up cheap enough now a days and they come with the adapter etc to plug straight into your controller:

I am a casual gamer and I use the Turtle Beach XO One's and they work fine for my needs. They were about $70 USD. Good Luck on whatever you decide. Happy Gaming!

 

I use the turtle beach x12's, great headset, does the job for me and not very expensive either

 

I use the turtle beach x12s on my 360 and xo4s on the xbox one and both work great. I recently replayed Dead space and the x12s really enhanced the audio as did the xo4s with alien isolation, hearing the alien follow you though the vents the stop in the
room ahead of you waiting to pull you through the vent...The headset definitely improved the experience.

The sound is great and there pretty comfortable and when you're using the in game you probably won't hear anything else in the room.

The cons to the xo4s are

-no mic monitoring, I talk fairly quiet online but I know some people that need mic monitoring.

-The mic itself is non adjustable, it's hard plastic so it doesn't bend at all

-they kill the controllers battery's quicker. But I still get a lot of hours out of one charge

It's a great headset still. And since it's controller powered there's not a mess of cables like the x12s.
