Best options for external storage?

Hi everyone,

My Xbox 360 S's 320 GB hard drive is completely full; mostly with games and DLC. It's time to invest in some external storage. Does anyone know which external hard drives work best with the 360 S? How large can the be (as in, what's the maximum amount
of GB an external device can store)? And would it need to have its own power supply?

I love my external drives and do think it was the best option given a choice of the two, but both would have been the best option. In 5 years time I see having an internal ssd being viable instead of several externals. For now tho a 2tb external is faster,
as OS and game can load at same time.

External of course, they gave us the best option and I want to utilize it.

 

You can use any external hard drive that connects via USB, or a flash drive for extra storage. You can only use up to 32gb of space and up to 2 devices connected at a time for a total of 24gb.

 

I think you meant maximum of 64 GB Smwutches - got a typo there because I know you aren't bad at math (at least not THAT bad, LOL).

 

Thanks, everybody! But I'm still confused. I can use any external storage device that connects via USB, but only if it's in the 32 GB range? What if I'm looking to add an additional, oh, say, 500 GB to my Xbox?

 

You can't. Even if you were to purchase a 500gb external hard drive, you would only be able to use 32gb for Xbox storage. The largest hard drive for the 360 is 320.

 

That's ridiculous! Even Nintendo lets you attach up to a 2 TB hard drive to the Wii U. Argh! I guess I'll just have to start moving games onto 32 GB thumb drives, because my 320 GB hard drive is FULL. No more games on demand for me...
