Best non dlc stuff?

For my first character I have an Ebony bow (lightning) with greater base damage than my dragonebone bow (soul trap). Very close however. I have not gotten silly and alchemed either to ludicrous amounts of damage. Maybe someday.

I'm with Angelus, both are lots of fun in the Reach where there are many dangerous precipices, and no shortage of dumb@sses willing to stand near them admiring the view until it is rushing up at them. Another good place for high altitude sniping (or Fus
Do Rah) is Glacial Cave (Falmer, Charus, Charus Hunters) in the Forgotten Vale, available in the DG dlc tho, so not on topic in this thread per se.

Both bows are ridiculously overpowered when sneaking and armed with dragonbone arrows (my former employer instilled in me an abiding appreciation for obliterating an enemy through overwhelming firepower). Still, both are tons of fun when you're just trolling
for Foresworn or Falmer to skewer.

Side note: Even with 5000+ Dragonbone arrows in my quiver, I still find myself a tad miffed when I can't pull one out of a corpse... lol.

What is your favorite DLC?

the most recent best/fav dlc is tinny tina borderlands2 dlc my other would be the goty edition boarderlands1..

i am sure with all the awards bl2 has gotten their will be a game of the year edition with all dlc with skins ect ect.. which will be an amazing buy for non bl2 players..

my fav older game would be forza4 dlc the exotics pack with all the top top gear top car list dlc.

 

Best non-geth shotgun

By the time this thread is finished, every known playable shotgun will have been mentioned. Nonetheless, I find the most stable, effective shotgun is still the DISCIPLE X, with damage and armor piercing rounds. You can get off 4 shots rather quickly before
reloading and it does not weigh as much as most shotguns, allowing your powers to recharge quickly.



Some of the other shotguns, like the Geth Plasma, require a charge before you reap the reported damage from them.



Others like the Wraith, only give off 2 or 3 shots, and take longer to reload, although it has a pretty long range (but range is not the intended use of a shotgun).



If you want to commit suicide, carry the Claymore. Unless you have the Claymore X, you never miss your target, and you can cloak after getting off that 1 shot, you are deemed obsolete. Even if you kill your intended target, unless that enemy is by themselves,
you will be overtaken by the other targets nearby. There's nothing the one shot Claymore can accomplish that a strong melee + powers can't do.



If I can add, I've never used the N7 Crusader, which I'm dying to get. I have read mixed reviews with this shotgun, but I would still like to use it for myself.

 

Yes to the arrows. it was bad enough when I had to buy them even though I had the perk that gave me more back from corpses but I resent seeing a dragonbone arrow sticking out of some Falmer's head or neck or crotch (it's kind of amazing how many crotch shots
I get) and not being able to retrieve it

All those crotch shots, mine are mostly head shots I think. I'll have to pay attention now...

 

I don't do it on purpose! It does seem to happen a lot though. I also get the occasional arrow to the knee. Who knew knees were connected to vital functions?

Look, you're usually a mage right? I'm merely suggesting that perhaps your heightened mental prowess might somehow be guiding these arrows, on a purely subconscious level, to a desired impact point? Call me crazy... of course I'm only kidding LadyB.

I've had a few arrows to the knee in this game when I look at myself in third person. Wish I could get a screen cap of that. On rare occasions after a duel with another archer, when I look at myself in 3rd sometimes there are 5-6 arrows sticking in me, albeit
briefly.

The gravitational mechanics on this planet must all kinds of "messed" up. My arrows rarely go where I expect them to if I'm more than 100 feet from the target and it simply can't be me?! lol. Then you have the arrows which don't even appear to be lodged
in an opponent, that are kill shots. I usually can't pull that one out either! That could be something they could improve on for the next ES non-MMPROG game as well.

I took a run into Solstheim last night and the gravity thing played prominently. I was out after Neloth's former apprentice and I got to the room with the spiders and egg sacs ready to hatch. This is my archer in there, she knows her way around a bow and
arrow but, as often happens in the spider caves, hitting the egg sacs from a distance gets strange. I have noticed it before on the island and it may be something odd with the code but if I am slightly elevated from my target I either overshoot or the arrow
buries itself in the ground in front. Even if I give it the eye and know I'm aiming for dead center. If I go forward a bit and am sure I'm on level ground then I can do it. This makes no sense to me. I can hit a foresworn who's a dot on the horizon at any
level.

Earlier, when I was talking to Neloth, it was kind of funny. He was explaining why he thought he was being targeted and included being attacked by dragons. I reply that I don't think the dragons are about him. Then I walked out the door and was attacked
immediately by an ancient dragon. I left it's bones in front of the ramp. For some reason, the archer never finished Dragonborn, though she did everything else, so I'm fixing that.

 

Precisely my experience with that quest as well. Frustrated a bit, I finally just rushed in, took a few blasts of poison and killed them all with my bow. Good thing spiders are mostly just big 8 legged annoyances. Fearsome to look at, deaded fairly easily
with a Daedric bow.

I think the game here tries to be too cutesy. In the real world snipers must be able to judge distance to the target AND any elevation difference between them, then do the complex geometry (trig actually) in his noggin to accurately place his round. I've
missed some easy shots from mere feet away in Skyrim when firing at targets above or below me, albeit a bit more extreme than this particular quest you mention. You'll see this game effect also happening if you are crouched behind cover and shooting, when
your arrow sticks in the cover, rather than going down range into a bad guy, even when your cover is clearly not in your sight picture upon releasing said arrow. I've even seen a paralysis effect happen to the bad guy when my arrow is actually stuck in something,
three inches in front of my face.

That's another thing that could be addressed in the next ES. And this; When spiders are killed, I want them to roll over and curl up like the dried up dead ones I find in my house!

BTW LadyB, did you buy anything from Neloth before heading out on that quest? That fool was walking around with over 24K in coin for my character. I was lucky to have a boatload of potions to sell that he was willing to buy so I cleaned him out. Is it normal
for this smarty-pants to have that much cash in his pockets? It'd be well worth a trip to Solstheim for that.

 

I bought a blank staff but didn't really notice how much gold he had. I have a barter necklace that lets me pay the bare minimum and sell for the max. It's an exploit, I know, but I hate to give the merchants so much of my hard earned gold. I'll have to
look and go sell him some of my massive hoard. I really hate it when I have to pay 5 or 10 times more than I could sell something for.

 

I noticed on a recent run through Oblivion that a similar thing happens there with the bow on small targets. Bow isn't as good or useful in Oblivion as in Skyrim where they really got it almost right. But, anyway, I was in a critter cave and couldn't hit
a wolf unless I could almost hit it in the nose. I mean really, a bow is a ranged weapon so the wuffs can't bite. I could hit a conjurer.

 

Uhhhhh, are sneak enchantments useless if you already have 100 with a maxed tree? I added two 40% buffs to my dragonscale and I still get noticed by everything even when standing completely still in the shadows.

Im not sure how the overdraft system works as the only articles portaining it are from early last year and beyond.

 

Sneak buffs work to improve your 100 sneak and any perks you took as well. You did take the 5 perks at the bottom? If you have 80% on top of 100 sneak and the appropriate perks, then, so long as you are in your sneak crouch ,
you should be very hard to see if not close to invisible, especially if you are standing still. I'll look tonight to see what my buff is. It's pretty high because I don't like to be seen if I can help it; but people will nearly bump into me, even foresworn,
if I'm in sneak.

 

Yea I have the complete tree maxed out. Just wondering if everything stacks as earlier posts say if you have enchants that make you go past 100 then it reduces effectiveness of the skill instead of boosting it.
