Best Headset Options for Xbox One (I'm getting Turtle Beach 800x)

Hi all. Any opinions on best headset for Xbox One?

Since 2016 I've been using my Turtle Beach 500x but since January this year, the hinges cracked (see photos below). I had it replaced twice and the warranty (1 year) has expired. They're a good pair cause of the boom mic, completely wireless, and has pure
Dolby Surround Sound 7.1. Before that I used to own the Turtle Beach 42x and Turtle Beach x32 stereo. Turtle Beach I think is one of the best headset companies since they have good Australia and New Zealand coverage and customer support with even a distributor
in these countries. Unlike Astro and other companies which don't have as good support and coverage over here.

I contacted Turtle Beach's official sole NZ distributor, Five Eight, and informed them NZ retailers had run out of stock. Support emailed me back stating they would resupply authorized retailers in NZ with the stock. Mighty Ape (see photos below) is getting
some in stock April 10 for under NZ$400 when typically in NZ this headset other retailers tend to sell between NZ$450-$500. Only because most manufacturers overcharge in the NZ market even after currency conversion and GST.

Reason why I'm interested in the 800x is it's wireless, and has true Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound and is Dolby X thingy compatible. It's not like these other headsets (Turtle Beach 700x, steel series, razer) that state they have "surround sound" when their "surround
sound" isn't as quality as Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound from the Turtle Beach 500x and 800x. And the 500x (no longer manufactured) and 800x (special order) has Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound which is great for listening to gameplay, music and watching YT and Netflix
content with rich audio fidelity rather than cheap Windows Sonic Surround Sound which isn't as rich as Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. However the 800x doesn't have a really good mic system (no boom mic and has active nose cancellation). However since late last
year I haven't been in parties (voice chat) a lot so it shouldn't be an issue for me.

Good thing is this retailer I buy the brand from will refund or replace the headset during it's one year warranty if it develops any cracks since Turtle Beach has a habit of making their headsets out of cheap plastic, they're still kind of more stylist than
the Logitech headsets. And the steel series have compatibility issues with Xbox or require all these chord connections.

I've noticed my 500x headset works with Xbox 360 and my desktop custom PC and my Sony KDX8000E 4K HDTV. The 800x will be likely the same since it uses the same connections (optical port). But since the hinges have cracked and warranty expired for my 500x,
think I'll get the 800x. I'm relieved the item is on back order now. Good thing I contacted Five Eight. Was thinking about the Astro but they're too bulky and have gotten a lot of negative reviews (Astro 50's).

  3. Turtle Beach 800X Headset still connected after headset powering off...

    Hello,

my Turtle Beach 800X Headset works fine with the Xbox one.

But if I want to change from the Turtle Beach 800X Headset to another Chat only Headset like the Microsoft Xbox One Chat Headset it still keeps connect to the xbox one.

That means that each other headset is not working because the xbox one thinks that the 800X is still connected.

When I go to setting I see that there is the headset connected to my gamertag. In the settings there is no possibility to disconnect the headset manually.

So if I once have powered on the Turtle Beach 800X Headset I can´t connect another headset without powering off the whole Xbox one console.

Anyone have the same issue? Is there an solution for this?

    Regards

    Patrick

Best Headset Options for Xbox One (I'm getting Turtle Beach 800x)

Currently use the Turtle Beach 500X. Warranty has expired and the hinges have cracked. Have tried duct tape and even black tape cloth but left ear muff is like not hanging properly.

Positives about the Turtle Beach 800x:

    - Completely wireless, no chords, good design apart from poor noise cancellation mic system with no boom mic.

    - Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound. None of this cheap "Surround Sound" statement and Windows Sonic Surround Sound which isn't as good as Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound.

    - 12 month warranty. Legislation in AUS/NZ means if it develops cracks in it's warranty period, customers can get a replacement or refund. Just contact the retailer you got it from.

    - Compatible with Xbox One (and Xbox 360 and PC even though the manufacturer doesn't state it, cause it uses optical cable).

    - Can listen to stuff without disturbing others and without others noticing.

This headset easily retails for around $400-$500 AU/NZ dollars, and can be a bit hard to source if you're not an American. Retailers over here will cover faulty return express shipping and will ship express courier a new replacement pair like they did with
my 500x headset when it was under warranty.

    Turtle Beach Elite 800X

Hi, there is no app available on the Xbox One for the Turtle beach headset. There is one available from Turtle beach website for Windows/Android/Mac/iOS though. here is the link https://www.turtlebeach.com/pages/audio-hub
and the app is compatible with the 800X headset.

3.5mm wireless/Bluetooth adapter for Xbox One Elite controller?

All Xbox One consoles come with a mono chat headset. Turtle Beach also has two 100% wireless headsets available for the Xbox One, the Stealth 500x and the Elite 800x, so no controller adapters are needed.
