Best 4K TV

Samsung up market an posher???? LOL!!!! Good advice from Lofty though, most of the sales staff in Curry's are woefully lacking in actual tech knowledge and if you stray from the script it blows there minds..

 

Best 4K TV is a Stolen one

So we have no 4k stations in Aus but this thread has kind of got me interested in the topic. So LG, Samsung or Sony? Seem to be the winners. I honestly hate when sales reps try to give you tech info when buying this kind of thing so community knowledge wins
again.

Yep the guy in Currys who sold my mate the TV wouldn't have it at first. He went onto Xbox.com, said it's probably something to do with the settings and this was after my mate telling him he phoned Samsung direct and was told the model was not HDR10 capatible.
He got there in the end but it was a bit of messing about.

My advice to anyone going into somewhere like this. Whatever TV your after, Samsung, Sony, LG etc take the manufacturers Support number, give them a call, give model number and you will get better advice. Not saying Currys staff are stupid but they really
need to be better updated especially when handing over this sort of cash.

 

HDR10 is only for the xbox one s though. we have no idea what the scorpio will or wont support as yet

cannot get over someoen saying samsung a more upmarket and posher brand than panasonic.. laughing so much here i spat drink everywhere!!

 

Not just Scorpio mate. I intend on getting PS Neo, will I be ok with my HDR10 TV or will I need another? lol

i really wanted a 4k 85 inch for the front room but they are approx 7k+ hmmm, i think id rather save that towards the next car purchase

 

And they drop in price pretty quick. I remember when 4K first came out, the prices!!!

In Currys the other day, saw an LG 55 4K for £799. Ok not sure exact spec but how much a basic 55 4K when they first released? A lot more than £799

 

^ That TV is too overpriced. 17,000 pounds would be about NZ$30,000 or AU$29,000. Who is going to be this crazy to spend that sort of money on a 4k TV. Maybe 8k when they get that rolling in maybe a few years time. And Samsung and Sony their most expensive
TV's in their NZ portfolio like market are like NZ$8,000.

I don't see the point in getting an expensive 4k HDTV unless all or the majority of Xbox Scorpio or PS4 Neo games run in true native 4k 30fps or better, or all the stuff you watch on it is 4k native. TV's in my opinion are not perfect when it comes to upscaling
content without noise/pixeliziation. And if you're a critic, your whip out a magnifying glass and analyse the display for upscaling imperfections. 1080p is still considered the norm. Like what Redeye said, "so we have no 4k stations in Aus". 4k hasn't even
been widely adopted by all countries etc yet. Many uploaded videos on YouTube are only in 1080p or 720p.

I'm glad I made some peeps on here laugh, but it's just my opinion. To me, Sony and Samsung's websites look more bling than Panasonic.

As for that 17,000 pound TV, does it have gorilla glass? LED displays are prone to damage and can be expensive to fix. Or you could get a refurbished or some cheap/cheaper LED display but I think that would look odd on a 17,000 TV. I think the Level 5 peeps
on this forum bring some interesting-ness on this forum. Not to say that other levelers don't. The number 5 is my favourite number. My other favourite numbers are 3 and 9.

I hardly know about this HDR10 thingy. I'm taking it a lot of HDTV's over 1 year old may not have this feature.

If you're going to buy an expensive thing from a retail store, it pays to do some research from the manufacturer's website first or contact them to ask some questions about a particular product. Don't rely on some store person. It's helpful and smart to
do at least some research before buying things over $100.

Here in the uk according to my local Currys ( who I don't trust 100% )

You can only order it with the frame it hangs from. They haven't got a TV unit big enough for it to sit on lol

 

^ Check out Samsung's NZ website. Much more sensible prices, especially when you convert their RRP NZ$ prices and convert them to UK/US currency. You really shouldn't be paying the earth for 4k technology. Especially when today a majority of stuff is still
only in 1080p or 720p native.

I came from a Samsung Plasma recently in which I upgraded to the 55" Vizio P....the best tv I have owned! I considering even upgrading again around Christmas to something like the 65" and using this as my bedroom tv!! Just amazing!

 

One of my friends just bought a 65" P-Series Vizio 4k...absolutely beautiful picture! He hooked up his standard X Box One and the picture quality is leaps and bounds better than my Samsung; can only imagine what a X Box S or Scorpio will deliver.

In the last 2 weeks I've watched a fair few 4K/HDR movies and you CAN definitely tell the difference. Like going from VHS to Blu Ray

Doing a quick Google search, it says the higher you go, 700p - 900p - 1080p - 4K etc for the eye to see the best benefits, higher you go, bigger screens and sit further back. That's not just random joes saying it either, coming from the top tech/TV forums/sites
