Can you tell us what version of Minecraft are you playing before? If you still have access to your previous device where the world is showing, kindly try to use the sync old world feature there. Once it is succesful, go to the Xbox version of Minecraft and make sure to sign in the same account you are using for the game then choose the Sync old world.

After doing so, check if the world will now sync in the game. Please let us know how it goes so we can try to assist further if there are still problems.

i still haven't heard back from xbox with a solution, ben from customer suppourt has 'taken this to the highest level' however i am the only person in the world this has happened to apparently

With regards to Minecraft worlds, if you are playing Minecraft: Bedrock Edition with Xbox Game Pass, your data is stored in the cloud. When you are no longer playing, the data files are stored both on the console and in the cloud. Downloaded content and addons must be stored locally for fast loading.

On your case, it is stored in the cloud but as a fellow gamer I would suggest to still make a backup of your World to prevent any data loss as there are instances where a world might get corrupted. Also, make sure to remember what email address you are using for your gamertag when you signed in on Minecraft as that is one of the important thing to sync your data.

You can also follow the instructions below to create a copy of your Minecraft world:

1. Find the world you would like to copy in the load screen.

2. Open Game Settings.

3. Select copy world

This process can take a couple of seconds to several minutes, depending on how much work you have done in your Minecraft world.

In this case you can transfer worlds worlds from Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition to Minecraft Xbox One Edition or/and Minecraft Xbox One Edition to Minecraft.
