Being fingerprinted to trade in used games?

I suppose it's a good measure for stopping stolen goods making their way into Gamestop's stock. But uh, that's about it. They'll lose business to rival retailers, as people who don't like the idea of sharing their information, let alone their fingerprints,
lol, go elsewhere... and they'll lose the business of thieves too. Because what idiot thief is going to agree to give his/her fingerprints when trying to offload some stolen swag? {XD

Gamestop will have a fingerprint database of honest, overly trusting customers. Maybe they can sell their fingerprint collection to some high bidder, who'll end up being a master thief, axe murdering psycho, and some poor Gamestop customer will be implicated
in the future, when their prints are found at a murder scene. {XD Heh ha.

I bet they lower trade-in values even more to pay for ink.
As such, your fingerprint would register as distorted which would raise red flags. You're not faking a fingerprint
As already mentioned, I highly doubt that GameStop's fingerprinting system was all that advanced.
Having a fake ID doesn't mean you went down to your local forger at the black market. It's as simple as using someone's ID who looks remotely similar to yourself.
Not many people are going to find someone older that actually looks anything like them, and even if they do, most people aren't going to be dumb enough to give their ID to an underaged friend. Yes, it happens, but it's nowhere near as common as you're trying
to make it out to be. The DMV also doesn't let you keep an old ID like they used to (at least in GA, I suppose other states may be different), so most people aren't just going to have an extra ID sitting around, or be willing to go spend money to get another
copy.

Thanks for the screen play idea Argontheos. Hmm get Halley Barry to be the Gamestop manager,

Megan Fox (who play gamer girl twins) as Victim 1 and 3. Michael J Fox as Victim 2. What his face the short guy, um Tom Cruise as the detective. Morgan Freeman for the voice over....

Gee Argontheos as the fruit stand operator who jumps out of way as the car chase crashes thru his stand.

^ Debit, CC, cash if I have it....... but never with finger prints, or personal information...

-

I know where you are going with this comment...... giving a finger print is totally different then paying with a CC.

A debit card has a lot of personal information as well. All someone has to do is see and memorize your punch in and then mug you out front. I regularly have older guys sizing me up when I'm openly punching my code in to pay for a soft drink.

I'm not overreacting to anything. It doesn't matter if their just taking it and storing it for latter use if the need arises or if they are doing a full background check. The point is they have no right to do it from a legal stand point. If they want to
do this then they need to make sure they are fully in their right to do it and make sure they meet the law requirements to implement it and not just have the local police stating the "they think it's a good idea and they are cool with it" that's not the role
for police they are enforcers plain and simple . I'm sorry I am not the type of guy that will just sit back and let people walk over my rights if I know what they are doing is wrong and against the law I will voice my opinion and I will do so very loudly.

So... Does GameStop not already require ID's for trade-ins? I honestly can't remember since I've only traded in one thing... That was my launch PS4 because it had a really loud fan. They had a deal last month that allowed me to trade in my launch PS4 for
a brand new one for a grand total of just under $2.50, so I gladly did so and extended my warranty by about 7 months while also getting a PS4 that didn't have a faulty fan.

I suppose I could understand this for those that don't have ID. Otherwise it's a bit much and (as if I needed another one) yet another reason I'll never take a game to GameStop.

Floorboss it a town law that makes them do it. It the same when they card you when getting beer in the states. If they do not check for a crook. They loss there business licnends to that town.

Obviously they aren't going to see someone has a record and automatically declare your games must be stolen. I'm not sure how you could even come to that conclusion. Clearly the purpose of this is so that if games do turn out to be stolen, they'll have irrefutable
proof of who the culprit is.

But it serves as more of a deterrent than anything. Unless a person is a flat out moron, they'll be less likely to hock stolen games someplace that has their finger prints on file. The Gamestop's here in Orlando have been doing this for a while now. I see
no reason to have a problem with it.
