Being charged $59.99 for account, however I used a prepaid card for a membership. Please help!

I tried to sign into my Xbox360 and I got this message:

"Your membership has been suspended until you pay for it. You'll need to do this on another device."

I put in a prepaid card when my membership ran out, but now I'm suspended from my account until I "fix how you pay for your membership."

The credit card that is on my account has not been in service for close to a year. Every prompt I get tells me to update my credit card.

Do I have to?

Is there a way to take the credit card info out?

I can't remove my credit card

Okay, so basically I used to use my card to pay for my membership. Well, when my gold was about to run out, I bought a 12 month card and put it on my account. Now this 12 month prepaid card is attached to my credit card and I can't take my credit card off
my account. I don't feel comfortable with that information being tied to my account. Please help!

Charged For Something I Didn't Buy, Refund?

Yesterday, I saw that my Xbox Live account was no longer connected to Xbox Live, and it had said I ran out of membership. I went to go buy the $9.99 membership for one month. Everything was going well, until I got a bill for $70 dollars. It had charged me
for both my one month membership and a year membership. I did not have auto-renewal turned on, and the $59.99 purchase was on a credit card that did no longer work, so it charged my debit card the full $70. Is it possible to get a refund for the $59.99 that
I did not buy? I was not hacked, I believe it was a mess-up by Microsoft as I previously purchased the yearly membership, but did not get auto-renewal. Help would be appreciated, thanks.

If you had never turned off auto-renewal they will still try to charge your card. If they are unable to charge your card, you do accrue a balance you have to pay off.

To clarify ... what you'd do is use that gift card on the Microsoft Store website to buy a prepaid Xbox Live Gold membership card. You cannot subscribe to Gold using account funds, however.

My grandson used my credit card recently to buy a game for $19.99. He advised he removed my card number after the purchase however I am now getting charges that I haven't approved. They come in as Microsoft*bill.m.net.msa first on 2/23 for $49.99 then
2/23 for $59.99 then 2/24 for $9.99, 2/24 for $19.99, 3/9 for $59.99 and 3/9 $59.99. Please explain what these are, do we now have a Trojan horse bug in the system or what. I need a response from Microsoft regarding these charges so I can refuse them to
my credit card company.

Sorry to hear it. There were issues with purchasing items yesterday.

However, some prepaid cards will not work on the system. This goes especially so when they are being used to purchase a Gold membership. This is due to the fact that when a membership is purchased on the console auto renewal is turned on and the card must
be verified to ensure that another payment can be taken at the proper time.

If you don't want to use a regular credit card or paypal then your next best bet would be to head to your local store to purchase a Gold membership card to apply to your account.

did you try and use a prepaid membership card insteead of creditcard?

or maybe the charges did not go thru?
