Being asked to purchase a game I already paid for when I try to re-download it

I purchased Alan Wake a while back when it was on sale. I go to download it again, and it is asking me to purchase the game instead of "download again". The game is confirmed as purchased in my account transaction history. This is the only game I own
that this is happening with.

I haven't tried clearing the system cache yet, since I'm hoping not to have to do that. If that's all it is, that's fine, but I'd first like to verify that its not a server-side issue. Thanks.

Sorry to hear it and I know how frustrating the download history on the console can be. There is a workaround though and it's not from the store.

Head to the link below and click on Full Games and then sift through until you find the one you want. Then select Add To Queue to add it to your Xbox to redownload.

With Fallout 4 coming out later this year, I have the urge to play a Fallout game again. Since I didn't do nearly as much in Fallout 3 as I did in New Vegas, I decided to go with that. I'd previously purchased both Fallout 3 and all of it's DLC through the
Games on Demand service, so I went to download the game again. However, the store is asking me to pay for it again. I know I'm on the account that purchased the game in the first place, so that's not the issue. And according to Microsoft's purchase records,
I did buy Fallout 3 on 10/17/2010, so Microsoft does have a record of me purchasing the game previously. However, the option still says "Buy" instead of "Download Again". I don't want to pay for the game again when even Microsoft is showing that I did buy
it, but it's too far back in my Download History for me to simply re download it that way. I have heard that if I select the buy option and confirm, that there will be no charge to my account, even though it appears to be doing so, but I want to make completely
certain before i do that, as that's $15 out the window if it doesn't work.

 

Make sure you're redownloading it from your download history and not the marketplace.

There is also a service alert right now about downloading items, so you may have to wait until that is cleared up.
