Beautiful Games

...and yet it's a multi-generational title... I'm not so sure I'd call TRE the best because the torch flames look flat, IMO. It is gorgeous though.

 

A long time ago while playing the 1st Gears of War in the multiplayer Mansion level, I took a moment to actually look up and in doing so, I saw the destroyed ceiling and roof with beautiful beams of light filtering through with particles floating in the
air - it was a perfect example of the "destroyed beauty" aspect that the developers were going for. Ever since then, I like to take a moment in some games to just
look up - I find not many gamers do that and as a result, they miss out on some amazingly beautiful things in their own games.

 

the only game on xbox 1 that looks nxt gen is RYSE SON OF ROME!! im playing it now and WOW!! looks amazeballs....infact i would say it looks better than second son on ps4 and is the most impressive nxt gen game graphically on all systems so far.

its also a great single player game,i really am loving it

 

In "Halo" games I'd often find myself stopping to admire the scenery in the background.

in "Gears of War" I'd often find myself charging the enemy, eventually getting killed and discovering my buddy was off admiring the scenery in the background.

"Eternal Sonata" is the most beautiful game on the 360.

"Ryse" is the best looking Next Gen game on any platform.

 

syks1, I just want to make sure you understand the concept of this thread. I didn't ask if the games looked next-gen; I asked you if you thought the games looked beautiful and artistic in a sense - there is a difference.

^ The DC had good hardware for the era, I play those 2 at least once a year using VGA. Soul Calibur on the DC is also visually impressive as is DOA2.

@Azreal, I agree with you on eternal Sonata, this one made my eyes bleed,, Almost, The candy graphics carries the game well.

 

If we are talking X1 I found AC Black Flag to be impressive graphically. But a game I've always considered a work of art is Bioshock.

 

I loved bioshocks art deco look. And infinite looked amazing, especially when you arrive at Colombia. The Dead space series has always had a horrific beauty and tau valantis looked great.

But foe next gen I might say titanfall because the textures look pretty good and it has a variety of colors.

 

Forza 5 is the most realistic looking simulator IMO, it just amazes me every time.

No, my pick isn't a Playstation game....it's World of Warcraft.

While the graphics are outdated (released in 2004), to me a beautiful game isn't just resolution and whatnot....it's aesthetics.

That game has great art direction...detail....everything. Even places where 99% of players don't notice...there will be some little thing to add to the immersive nature of the game.

For a while...it really was a sight to behold.

Edit: just so ppl won't think I'm trolling...if I" had to pick an xbox game...it would be GTA IV. The level of detail into every little nook and cranny was unbelievable.

I decided to get Tomb Raider yesterday. Have it for Xbox 360 but hardly play it. I just wanted to see Lara and the environment in better resolution. And there IS an improvement graphics wise. Her hair looks more lifelike where in the 360 version her hair
looks like it's been drawn with crayon. Lighting (sunlight) is good too. Project Spark Beta is looking good too but there sometimes can be very short periods of lag when your in a world creating it. Probably cuz it's a beta and not the full version. Zoo Tycoon
and Kinect Sports Rivals look beautiful too.
