    I think that if you don't have gold you should be able to be in a party with your friends still. I had to talk to a microsoft agent about a problem I had with my account and a friend's account. it took hours to communicate with my friend because he was having fun playing a game and getting distracted from my messages while I had to sit there on the home screen wait for him to respond to me, if I could be in a party with him and was able to talk to directly to him I would've been able to get the information I needed and talking to microsoft would've been done within and hour. please make this a feature, I brought it up to the agent as well and he even agreed with me on it. even your employees wants this feature.

    Xbox live gold sharing not working.

    You need to use the account that has Xbox Live gold. The account without the subscription can only play multiplayer and use party chat.

    You can't join multiplayer games or party's without it.

    Xbox Live Gold is ONLY required for playing online Multiplayer, participating in parties and getting and playing the free Games with Gold games.

    If you purchased a game digitally, you can download that without a Gold membership. You'll just be unable to play the online multiplayer part (if the game has online Multiplayer).
