BC update

The same reason they are giving people the BC 360 games, to get people to actually starting buying the X1. And why should people buy an X1 game they already own on 360? The argument is no different than the one for the 360 games, people already paid for
them, they want to be able to play them.

 

Why should people buy a game they already own? They won't, that's exactly my point.

Microsoft: Hey there would you like to to enable your game to be backward compatible?

Publisher: But we've released a remaster for the Xbox One.

Microsoft: But it'd be a really nice thing to do and it'd let customers play a game they've already bought.

Publisher: But then they won't buy the remaster.

Microsoft: Well yeah!

Publisher: No thanks then. We kind of like the idea of getting two lots of money for the same game.

 

So your argument is that they won't have BC even though they already do? While your claim might be true for some titles, obviously it isn't a blanket truth since they already have BC titles and are making more.

 

Where did I mention that it was a blanket truth?

But come on, are you seriously telling me you think a publisher would want you to replay a game you already own when they have the potential to sell you that same game again?

One payment or two. Which do you think they'd rather?

 

Well your argument seems to have went from being about SR IV to being against BC in general, that makes it a blanket statement. Of course they'd love it if people would pay them twice for one game, but (effectively) nobody is going to do that. On the other
hand, making games BC could generate DLC sales just as the free games with Gold does. Likewise the idea of free cross generation (360 to X1) downloads, such as SR IV on X1 if you already own it on 360.

Will they do that, either specifically with SR IV or any cross generation games? I don't know, but the argument is just as valid as for doing BC games... perhaps even more valid. And still doesn't change the fact there is no way they will make Saints 4 (or
any game that is already on X1) backward compatible since that would be doing the same work twice.

 

It went to publishers who already have the game on the One having no reason to allow backward compatibility of the same game from the 360. Remember it is the publisher who says if Microsoft are allowed to make it compatible.

I hope most games are compatible. Would really like to be able to play all of my games again on the Xbox One. So here's hoping the publishers decide to go through with this. But my guess is that some of them will not so they can try to release remastered
version.

 

Completely up to the publisher. We will just have wait and see what happens and how it plays out.

 

My hope (Wishful thinking) would be that all xbox titles would be BC on the X1.

Publishers, even with remasters out there could allow that. The question is. Will they?

Which is why when BC was announced at this E3, I posted. "Lets wait and see what shakes itself loose, and have a list of titles who's developers would not allow their games to be BC on the X1."

People can then vote with their dollars and thereby pressure publishers into thinking twice before saying. No!

No, actually I've been trying to correct what you said....

"While I doubt we'd see Saints 4 made backward compatible...."

That implies that there is a possibility of it happening even if it's doubtful. There is ZERO possibility of that happening. And as I said, IF they wanted to do that they'd simply give 360 game owners a X1 download not make the 360 version BC when the game
is already on X1.
