Apparently, according to
IGN, you can now purchase battlepacks in addition to earning them through legitimate play - bronze will cost $1, silver will cost $2, and gold will cost $3. As a BF4 player, are you upset or happy with this change? Will you take advantage of it?

All I heard so far today is that they are looking into it:

DICE will be doing server maintenance in about 6 hours or so from the time of this post according to Battlelog so it's not getting fixed until tomorrow at the earliest.

 

Micro-transactions should not be in a full retail game at all, It only works well in free to play games.

 

Okay, wolf, I'm going to go ahead and ask: why shouldn't micro-transactions be in a full retail game? What makes it different from free-to-play games? Especially considering that you can still unlock said battlepacks in BF4 completely free?

 

Typical media , promote a debate without showing the whole hand, there's been paid unlocks in bf for some time , previously it was full kit unlocks

 

does this matter.... really... do you really get an advantage by unlocking a 4.3 scope red dot laser pointer on a weapon you will never use or a triangle shape in your emblem library? it is not like you get a some super duper l33t weapon with nuclear capabilities.
If people want to spend the money.. let them.. it is their choice... should it be in games.... ??? doesnt bother me...

 

I find it to be extermely greedy, but that's business. I'm not that bothered personally, although if any console developer/publisher ever attempts to bring in a form of paid advantage (i.e. where the people with paid items have an unfair advantage) I will
boycott all their games from that point on.

 

Exactly, tohellnbak! It doesn't break the game and is really inconsequential. If I can still reasonably earn it in-game for free and it can help the developers make more of a profit off of their game, I say why would it matter if it's a big-budget title
vs. free to play? Th answer? It doesn't matter.

 

Does matter cuz the battle packs are randomized.

even still.. what comes in the battlepacks are either useless weapon options or shapes for your emblem or 25% boost...

the game still comes down to...

not like buying a super car on Forza where buying it is the only way.. and it does 250Mph compared to similar classes that only top 100MPH

 

It matters (maybe not in this instance). When it turns unlocking things into crazy long grinds it hurts the balance and flow of the leveling process.

 

How long it takes to unlock something is a matter of game balance and has absolutely nothing to do with microtransactions. How long it takes to grind is a decision that is purely up to the developers.

 

Then why did they make changes in Forza then? Because they originally made it so that more people would get fed up with the grind and just use real money.
