Battle Passes and DLC

I believe that it works for some games. Games like Assassins Creed Origin/Odyssey and Witcher 3. They bring fresh content to the game with the DLC and I feel like I always get my moneys worth. Other games like COD just use it to keep getting money.
They just rehash old maps and make people pay huge amounts of money to play the same maps they have played since the original Modern Warfare.

DLC was perfectly fine it used to be a nice way to add on & continue stories in our favourite games but has become corrupted into selling us parts of games that have been cut.

Season passes were a nice one off payment to get all DLC for a cheaper price but now we get multiple season or annual passes.

Battle pass.... I can't even say anything good about it, a battle pass is nothing more than a manipulative scam to get you to pay for it & if you fail to unlock all items associated with said pass you often lose them.

The current Industry standard of Battle passes & seasons is pretty disgraceful & often designed to manipulate players.

That's just my opinion however.

While not all forms of Battle pass, seasons, DLC or season passes are bad there's plenty of publishers out there that know how to take full advantage.

I think as long as the game is free its fine to have the season pass and battle pass and DLC. If the game is on full price I think it's not so attractive since I have already paid full price for the game.

We've had piecemeal DLC for over a decade now so I think most of us are accustomed to it by now and doesn't really bother me if done properly. The advent of battlepasses are neat because they insensitive you playing the game with stuff and if you play
enough you can keep paying for the pass with your winnings. Halo MCC has a pretty good pass.

I am happy with DLC and battle pass bundles if done in the right way. The right way for me is:

* Full priced games should not have battle pass options as if paying £45+ then I expect a full and complete game. I am happy to buy DLC if it is not content stripped from the original game and if it extends my entertainment and enjoyment of the game.

* Battle pass should only be an option for free to play games, with the addition of cosmetic purchases. Developers should be compensated for their hard work. What I dislike about some free to play games is how they hide behind pay walls forcing a player
to cough up cash, this should not happen at all.

* Loot boxes should be banned as they offer gambling like mechanics and I would rather pay for a skin than take a chance with a loot box

I only buy season passes when I know that all future dlc are included in the game. For example, in Assassins Odyssey I didn't have to worry about it. I finished the game without acquiring any other add-on. Only the season pass was enough.

on the other hand, with Destiny I have gotten some disappointments. If you buy the DLC bundle, this does not assure you that they include the other contents at no additional price. They release more expansions that you should buy even if you already have
a paid season pass
