Batman Arkham Knights $40 season pass is a disgrace....

Yes, A Blue Illusion, you're "not 'wrong' for feeling that way" and neither are the Millions who will "blindly" fork out the $100 for 'Arkham Knight' either...

 

Yes Arkham, I'm sure millions will blindly fork it over... and they'll keep on forking it over. As long as they keep doing it, I'm sure the devs, publishers or who ever will be more than happy to keep that hand out demanding more until it gets to the point
where each individual will have to say "that's too much." Maybe even you. Might want to think about what that price range may be for you... you know, just in case.

 

I do not feel bad for publishers at all especially if there is a delay. There are delays in all sectors of retail all the time. It's very commonplace. WB are not hurting in the pocket because of a delay and neither are other big publishers like EA and Activision.
They're worth millions and millions. They fund the games or a big portion of the funds.

WB are the disgrace here. First, they charge 30 euro for 4 characters on MKX. To the uninformed they may think "€30.00 for 4 characters and the game is €60.00, how many characters are in the game? 8?"

They are totally trying to see how far they can take the mickey out of us by pushing to 40. I wholeheartedly believe that. Someone has to test the waters. The game industry is worth about 70 billion worldwide. If you're a developer or publisher that can't
cash in or stay in business, make better games. You are doing something wrong. You don't see the really stellar companies that make quality products floundering. No, they're flourishing.

They can move the prices of the games up if they want to (like they do here) and watch the industry crash. They can't because people won't buy them especially when the majority of them are crap, or are very short or too most people aren't worth more than

Make a good game, market it properly, price it appropriately and people will buy your games in droves. Just ask Rockstar how that philosophy works for them. They're minted.

In this instance with this game, I am 100% convinced they are just trying to see how much they can get away with. Totally, and nothing can change my mind.

 

@brand, I couldn't agree more. It seems so many people are quick to be the apologist because these 'poor devs' and publishers have all these issues.

I remember watching a streaming video during the last E3, it was available on the X1 under E3 coverage. It covered several groups of (if memory serves, new dev school students) that were tasked with a competition to come up with the best promo video package
to represent the Borderlands franchise.

There were interviews of people on both sides of the project. One of the higher ups in the Borderlands team outright said that the video game industry generates more annual revenue than the movie industry. Oh, those poor, poor publishers and all their problems
they must face with the lost profits when their is a setback they should have planned for. Are you feeling bad for them? lol

Personally, I love Destiny because it is really fun

..........

However, at the same time (despite being really fun); the content that is available in the game is absolutely atrocious!

Had I known that Destiny was going to be a "ultra bare bones game content" title, I would not have picked-up this game at all.

With that being said, Destiny has taught me that the games of the Xbox One generation is going to be a "throw money at the developer to get more gameplay" fest.

Like I said before, I don't mind paying for DLC, but it has to be worth it.

Now, in regards to "The Dark Below" and "House Of Wolves", I already both the season pass so I will enjoy what I paid for.

However, if the "Comet DLC" for Destiny isn't free, I won't throw anymore money at Bungie / Activision.

Destiny is a game that I love, but I absolutely cannot recommend it to anyone else. If anything at all, I would tell others to stay away from Destiny.

Now, let us talk about Destiny 2...

I will only buy Destiny 2 if the content that is immediately available in the core game is equal to the core content of Destiny 1 with The Dark Below with House Of Wolves combined.

As far as the season pass of Destiny 2 is concerned, I would rather pay full price for the extra DLC content of Destiny 2 by not getting the season pass than be stuck with what I have with now on the season pass of Destiny 1 (The Dark Below and House Of
Wolves). At least I have the option to avoid low content expansion DLC with this method.

@Brand - Agreed and I just noticed that MKX also has a $40 season pass or character pass or whatever it is. That was disappointing to see and does seem like they're trying to push that as the norm. Let's just hope a lot of people hold off from buying these.

 

I say don't buy it if you don't want it. Some may think the $40 is worth the price. I personally never thought season passes were worth the price because I don't bother with DLC for most games anyways. Most DLC to me isn't even worth it, so a season pass
isn't my thing. The only season passes I purchase are for episodic content like Telltales games where I can save $5 on the whole season.

But, this isn't as bad as say COD having a $50 season pass since Call of Duty Black Ops. This is going to stay forever, and the only way to stop it is by voting with our wallets.

 

That's pretty much it, Dr Black Bones, and I've cast my vote all ready (twice, in fact). I preordered this game when it was first announced and paid in full, real glad that I did actually for it appears that only the early preorders will even receive a
Hard Copy for the PC. I've also preordered the Steam Download so that I can Pre-Download and play at 12:00AM June 23rd while I'll likely pass on the Hard Copy to my son who also wants to play this game.

As for the Season Pass? I'll be happy to purchase it as soon as it becomes available as well so that I can play the DLC as soon as its ready for download. 'Arkham Knight' WILL deliver, I'm pretty confident of that, and for those who want the bargain there
are other options to pursue. Most games eventually drop in price and may even include the DLC, as I said "eventually". You get what you pay for, you can enjoy a Blockbuster Movie on Opening Night and pay the Premium, or you can wait until it's become available
on DVD. I've voted with my Wallet and encourage Everyone Else to do the same...

 

PC Day 1 pre-order with Harley Quinn is $30.00 plus 40$ season pass = $70.00 total

Xbox One Day One Divital 65$ plus $40 season pass = $105.

Difference of $35 dollars saved.

 

Developers are so bad in 2015 that they can't add an extra fighter to a game on day 1? We all know this is complete BS, this is the future of digital that so many love. An entire game on disc is the most normal way to buy and sell a game, not demos on disc.
I can't think of a generation I've wanted hacked to shreds as much as this one.

Unfortunately, I don't see this whole "throwing money at developers for more gameplay" practice going away because a lot of people are still going to not care and support it anyways.

Please understand that it isn't my intention to be mean / rude if you're the type of person who always buy season passes for games, but doing so is sending a sign to the developers that we (the gamers) love paying for stuff that should have been included
or free in the first place.

Yes, there are some DLCs that warrant their price point indeed.

However, there are way too many DLCs that make me wonder why they just weren't made unlockeable in the game that you already bought (in reference to character skins) with your money.
