Lol @Lei Fang's comment about Xbox One games having a lack of content in the core game, yet she loves Destiny. Also your statement makes zero sense considering the same season pass practices are in place across 7th and 8th gen consoles. And what makes it
look really silly is there aren't many games that are 7th gen only now.

Now as far as this season pass goes, I for one don't care one bit. If they give you a substantial amount of content it might end up being worth the price. If they don't give you a substantial amount of content then you can feel hoodwinked later. Just remember,
nothing changes because you cry on the xbox forums. Make sure you dont buy this and hurt WB where it counts...in the wallet.

  5. Publishers have had a long standing cap on how much that they can charge for games, they rely heavily on DLC sales to turn in any kind of profit, especially when you have retailers selling used copies of a AAA game
on launch day for $10 cheaper. My local game shoppe even gives a higher rate incentive to buy back AAA games during the first 3 days after launch. This game has been in development for over 4 years now and has been postponed twice, or in other words, 9 months
of extra development time that wasn't initially forecast that the Publisher had to buck up for, god forbid that they try and see some return on their investment!

This is true, there has been a cap on game prices for a long time. My problem is that they just muck around with all these different 'deals' and there isn't much of an organized
feel to it. There should be a standard applied to content (both game and DLC) and pricing. My example about simply having to buy Arkham City to get the CW expansion, but this one now costs $40 still stands as a good example.

Not to mention that since they're forced to look for ways to bypass that cap in order to make their profit, not having any kind of standard to follow just makes it that much more
confusing to the average consumer as to what a fair price for any type of game content is or should be. Not only does that make people suspect there are some underhanded practices happening, there is no way to verify there isn't. If it's easy to perceive as
shady... that's exactly how it will be perceived.

I'm not buying the whole 'poor publisher had to buck up for a delay' bit either. Any publisher... in fact... any company that ever had a business plan and half a brain to come
up with a decent one, knows to account for the unforeseen in said plan. The fact that there may be delays isn't one of those minor or rare circumstances that can be easily forgotten about either.

I've been involved in retail, in one form or another, for quite a few years and I can tell you from personal experience that when a new product people have been anticipating is
delayed... the last thing most manufacturers do is release it with a higher price because it cost them more due to a delay. In fact, most reputable companies will advertise it with a "Now Available" or a "Finally Here" marketing campaign and include a special
bonus of some sort as a "Sorry for the inconvenience" and / or a "Thanks for your patience" gesture.

I think it's past due time to release the price cap. Or at least raise it. I'd rather pay $85 or more for a decent game if I know it will actually not be broken, will include a
limited # of 'free' DLC packs and won't keep nickel and diming me for new content.

I guess many of you don't remember the Arcade Days of the 1980s, where a roll of Quarters ($10) would barely last an hour. Even if you were somewhat skilled at a game like 'Tempest', it was still a "Quarter Eater", and the cost at actually acquiring skill
at one of these Stand Up Classics was hefty to say the least, and this was back when Minimum Wage here in British Columbia was under $4/hr. Not only were you bleeding Quarters but you couldn't take the Hardware home with you and even when the Arcade was Open
For Business, you often had to wait in line to play it, especially for a game that was Brand New.

$100 CDN for a game that promises to provide countless hours of entertainment for YEARS to be played at anytime that I should choose in the comfort of my own home (not to mention the ability to check it out at 12:00AM on Launch Day) is a Steal of A Deal.
I wouldn't pay this price for too many others but 'Arkham Knight' is a No-Brainer, RockSteady's track record is proven....Batman Arkham Knights season pass is a disgrace.... :)

Part of the problem is a lack of meaningful content.

I was really impressed with the "Hardened Edition" of "COD: Modern Warfare"... but then I picked it it up for £40.00 months after it first released.

Like a dummy I bought the full bells and whistles versions of "Ghosts" and "Battlefield" on the ONE and though I played all the DLC my experience wouldn't have been any poorer if I'd missed it.

    Lesson learned.

Now it's getting even worse though.

You can buy the game. The pre-order version. The Advanced Pre-Order Version. The Post Advanced Pre-Order Version complete with Season Pass.

If they're not careful we're all gonna start reading books again.

I do remember those days when a roll of quarters didn't last long... I was there and spent far more than I ever should have. Those days are long gone and the gaming environment is different. Apples and oranges.

@Arkham yes Destiny is available for the Xbox 360. What is your point? Lei Fang plays Destiny on Xbox One, which she said so earlier when she said the only reason she turns her Xbox One on is to play Destiny and Killer Instinct season 2.

Yes, A Blue Illusion, "the gaming environment is different" and more time and money is being spent on producing these games in an increasingly competitive landscape. You're free to not buy the 'poor publisher had to buck up for a delay' explanation, but
ask yourself this. You don't think that Warner Bros. (Publisher) would've rather have had RockSteady meet their original Q4 Target Date last year to cash in on the Christmas Market? RockSteady likely had to fight tooth and nail to get another 9 months Development
Time from Warner Bros. (you do seem to think that they're greedy now and don't care about what goes out right?) and the $40 Season Pass could very well have been the compromise that had to be made here. Why release such a highly anticipated title in the summer
months when activity across ALL video game platforms is at a low?

$100 for the Complete 'Arkham Knight' experience isn't a "disgrace" at all, it's the price one will have to pay to make this lengthy project worth everyone's while, the publisher makes a profit, the developers get paid (ask Team Bondi employees who worked
on 'LA Noire' for 7 Years if they were paid on time) and above all, the Gamer gets the Game that they were Drooling for all along. Compare this to what $100 gets you elsewhere in the Entertainment Industry...Batman Arkham Knights season pass is a disgrace.... :)

  14. it cost that for me to take family to the movies for 2 hours

£100 for a game and endless hours of entertainment and being able to come back month after when new content is added is worth it to me

  15. @Arkham. No, I don't think about WB. I don't think about RS and I don't care about who prefers to sell what at Christmas time. I'm aware of their involvement in games, but I'm a fan of the game, not them. Sure, I consider their rep for making good games
and it bears some weight, but it isn't rocket science to understand that a good gaming experience at a reasonable price is what people will appreciate.

I'm not a market analyst and I don't have to be. If I spent all the necessary time I'd need to pour over all the background details and circumstances that dictate the how / how much, when, where and etc. that is involved in all the games that interest me...
I wouldn't have the spare time left to play them.

I'm a consumer. I know what I typically pay for my games and content now, what I'm willing to pay... and what seems like a 'fair' price to me. This pricing scheme sounds unreasonable to me and I'm not 'wrong' for feeling that way.
