    I received a communication ban on my Xbox live account due to me responding to a player harassing me. I have been on Xbox live for almost 10 years and I never respond to people but this time I did. Upon defending myself, I received an email the next day
    stating that I was given a communication ban of 2 weeks. I submitted a case review but to my surprise, the only sort of communication with the enforcement team is a small 500 character comment box. I pleaded my case and waited for a decision to be made but
    do my surprise again, the decision was upheld. I have a good reputation on Xbox and have been on here for years and never thought I would get treated like this. I then found that there is no way to contact the enforcement team, nor is there any other way to
    appeal this bad. I don't believe that this system is very efficient because players are given a guilty verdict and they have to try and prove their innocence in 500 characters to then have your comment disregarded by an enforcement member and enforce the ban
    anyway. This feels like a misuse of power because we players pay for the Xbox live service and when something is deemed offensive, we are immediately banned with no warning. My ban will be lasting for 2 weeks and I feel that this is complete overkill. I have
    seen multiple forums and posts regarding this same issue but it doesn't seem to get fixed. I know that no one will probably read this or do anything about it but if you do, please understand that this system is broken and it desperately needs to be fixed.
    There doesn't need to be an all powerful enforcement team that gets to make banning decisions without properly hearing both sides of the story.

    dear enforcement team I have been banned for a while and I did not do anything and it says I’m banned cause some one betrayed me on a game and then banned me too please help me please unban my account I did not do anything it says I got banned for voice
    communication and no end date why I’m a huge Xbox fan been playing since the original Xbox I hate ps I love Xbox and Halo please unban my account and get major Nelson too unban my account

    A 2 week ban usually occurs after the 3rd communication ban.

    First is 24 hours.

    Seconds is a week

    Third is 2 weeks.

    Unless its changed recently.
     
  5. well this is my first offense and it's for 2 weeks. I've tried pleading my case but they don't seem to care.

    Suspensions are related to infractions of the Xbox Live Code of Conduct or the Microsoft Services Agreement, so they are not random. Xbox Live Support has no visibility into enforcement actions (they may say you have one, but that's it; they can't remove
    it or say exactly what caused it). Suspensions longer than 24 hours and issued within the last 12 months may be eligible for a case review on
    the Enforcement website.

    Some games do take screenshots when major achievements are completed, but the screenshot itself won't bring on a suspension, unless there is something in the shot (such as user-generated content) that breaks the Xbox Live Code of Conduct.

    Hi,

    Doesn't matter about the 'context' or the 'bigger picture'. If someone sends you something like an offensive message all you need to do is block and report it. There is no need to reply. If their message was offensive and broke the code of conduct, you should report them and the same ban will come to them too.

    I've been on Xbox Live since 2005 and never had a suspension once.

    The context does matter, if the person sending the first message isn't necessarily offensive but with the intent to cause distress or anger resulting in retaliation.
    What's there to get angry about from a random stranger you don't know? Who cares what other people you don't know say to you? You don't need to retaliate other than to block and move on. All communications on Xbox Live need to be rated E for everyone. When you signed up, you agreed to abide by the rules which are legally binding.

    There is an automated system when it comes to swearing. It's actually quite difficult to swear fully on messages as most are blocked out. The fact that they are blocked should be a good enough indication that you're not allowed to use them in anyway either directly with stars ** or via an abbreviation.

    How do you know 'nothing happens to them'?. They won't tell you if your report leads to a ban.

    As I see it, it's working as it is meant to work.
