Banned for two weeks for cursing?

Someone messaged me after I beat them on a game, critisizing my playstyle. I responded with a message which contained curse words. A couple days later I was banned from comunications for two weeks. From brief research, you can only get banned for cursing
if it was on an upload studio video you posted, or if it can be considered "harassment". I don't see how me cursing in a single message could be considered harassment, therefore I am confused why I got banned in the first place but moreso why it is such a
lengthy ban? These weren't the only messages sent from eachother however none of the others are insulting or even remotely warrant a ban, never mind a two week one. I hope someone can shed some light on why I was banned and if I was misinformed over Microsoft's
policy on cursing.

Trash talking can be considered harassment, which is explicitly against the Xbox Code of Conduct. You were banned because you broke the rules; Xbox doesn't care WHY you broke the rules, because as far as they are concerned, you are responsible for your own
actions. The other person was trash-talking you, but you CHOSE to break the rules in response (rather than just report them and then ignore them).

Unfortunately, this is also one of those 'street lessons' that has to be learned; breaking rules because someone else did it first won't give you immunity from the consequences. Sorry about that.

Gamertag is @steveersh, i got banned for two weeks for talking trash to a kid who was talking trash first. Xbox live has become an absolute joke with this. 1. Im playing a game for kids 18 and up, its not for babies who cry to enforcement for people who
are "mean" to them. 2. I have a "Good" player rep and still get banned because one little sissy cant take being made fun of when he starts the convo. Xbox live has become a bunch of little babies crying to enforcement like its their mom just because someone
said something mean. What are those god damn losers going to go cry to someone if someone tells them to go F themselves on the street.

 

Profanity is a violation of the code of conduct anywhere on Live not just under specific circumstances.

Suspension length can vary depending on the severity of the situation as well as any previous suspensions.

 

The last time I received a communications ban was Jan 17th 2018 for one week, the last time before that was May 26th 2016 for one day and that is my entire history of issues. So I am in effect being punished for a time in 2016 when I used profanity in
a message? This system seems very flawed.
