    Bank account charged for 2 months after auto-renewal cancelled


    Hi,

    I purchased one month of gold membership in May and promptly turned auto-renewal off. Once (I assumed) the subscription had run its course I stopped using my Xbox so didn't notice the membership was being renewed.

    Just checked my emails and have been receiving this message each month, along with one saying my card had expired:

    "Your Gold – 1 Month subscription is scheduled to be automatically renewed on 26 December 9999."

    I would then be charged following this - based on your experience is there any way I can stop this in future/any chance of reimbursement?

    Canceled auto-renewal, but was still charged for the month?

    I canceled my auto-renewal due to low funds last month. My gold was set to expire today, 5/17/2012. On 5/2/12 I was charged $10.00 on my bank account even though auto renewal was off. Apparently Microsoft charged me, but did not give me a month in return
    as my gold is expired. It says in my payment history that I was charged in the billing section of this site, so I know it is not a problem with my bank account.

    I would either like a refund, or the month that was paid for when I was charged. I just do not know how to proceed. I have taken pictures of the billing accounts and my bank accounts just to make sure.

    Cancelled Membership but still billed.

    I turned off auto renewal, and was STILL billed for my xbl. I haven't played my xbox in 2 months was just getting charged for not even using it, than looked at my bank statement this morning and overdrafted $100 because of the recurring payment from xbl.
    Really a load of ***. I know i cancelled it for a fact due to me not having the money to pay it the month before, and wasn't charged, and yet this month i got charged????

    You will have to contact Phone or chat support to find out why you got double charged for a renewal.

    Having proublems removing expired credit card payment option

    As a precaution for the automatic renewal, if you opt not to cancel the auto-renew, by the time you see the charge on your bank account it may be too late to request a refund. (For myself it wasn't charged until 30 days after the 'billing date')

    If you do opt to call them to cancel the auto-renew be sure to have the information listed from the above page handy.

    Expiration date help

    You didn't get one month free. You have auto-renewal enabled on the account. It may take a day or so before the charge shows up on your credit card/bank statement.

    If you did not intend to have your subscription auto-renew, then I would suggest calling Xbox Support, although they generally will not provide a refund for cancelling a one month subscription.

    Since you cancelled the card if it was on auto renewal it has to pay for that month but after that you shouldn't be charged after that. But since you have no money on your card to charge they are contacting you that is the reason
