Bait and Switch

I bought an xbox one and I have a convo that says the kinect is required. Now I see that you dont need a kinect and I feel jipped because I do not use the kinect that much and I just wanted the system. I understand the idea behind buying it early but think
about it they said (and I have a convo that says) the kinect is a required piece now a few months later its not needed. Sounds sorta like a bait and switch tactic which is illegal.

(Note I did pay for this and got it the day it came out and also I was told the KINECT was required and not its going to be sold without one which means its not required)

Bait and switch

Saw The Witcher 3 on sale for € 25 , clicked buy , onscreen message € 25.00 including VAT, while I was entering the payment information the price changed to € 49.99.

I know sales are temporary but how many stores change their prices at 07:34 AM? Cancelled the purchase.

 

This pseudo-bait-and-switch is absolutely appalling. (Games for Gold)

Actually, I think it's you who don't know the meaning of "bait and switch". The OP has it absolutely correct. The "bait" was implying that Halo 3 and Assassins Creed was going to be the free games of July. The "switch" was making
an XBLA game one of the free games instead.

 

Whoever told you at the time of purchase lied to you. Microsoft publicly announced that the Kinect would not be required to utilize the console a few months before the release of the product, and was very public regarding this if you followed the latest
news. However, they also stated that the way they designed and marketed the console was that "Kinect" is part of the console. There are a lot of reasons for it, but the biggest one would be, making sure that everyone has the capability to utilize Kinect
commands so that developers are a lot more free to include those options in the games they make without alienating the people without "Kinect".

The short version, The console plus the Kinect "is" the Xbox One.

 

Yep I have to agree with Midnight on this one they said months before release that you didnt even have to hookup the kinect. What they said was the experience was built around Kinect not that it was required. You should be happy they are lowing the price
because lower price means more sales, more sales mean more games. You paid 100 extra but got to play for almost a year more so hey choose your battles.
