    @GG

You're only looking at this from one side. You're a good guy, play fair and others like you won't report you and you don't report them. We have another side to our community that doesn't play by those rules.

On the 360 we could see our rep hits by viewing the percentage. I spent several weeks playing one of the CoD's (MW2 I believe) online months after it released. Didn't know the maps and had my rear handed to me. When your K/D is 2-24 in TDM you tend to get
some attention, I know this to be true by the voice and text messages. I could see my rep taking a hit and my only offense was a lack of skill.

NCAA Football I received rep hits (and the nasty text and voice messages) for winning, specifically for 4th quarter clock management which is perceived as cheating by apparently people who know nothing about football.

Two games that I knew I was getting reported yet had done nothing wrong. On the 360 it meant nothing but now it's different. What happens when someone new to gaming decides to play a FPS and suddenly finds themselves in the red for being reported for a low
K/D? Anyone who has any experience playing MP FPS can't honestly tell me that it won't happen.

On a side note but related look at the forum level.....I just dropped from 5 to 4 for what? I tend to be very negative towards MS on occasion but I'm not argumentative, I don't use profanity and I'm always respectful.

Sometimes you can play by the rules and still get punished.

  3. On the Xbox 360 your rep can't take a hit due to lack of skill (it even specifically says something along those lines right under the negative feedback option). What it DOES do is cause those players to avoid you in the future, which is different then taking
a hit to your rep. Besides, on the Xbox 360, it's incredibly difficult to take a hit to your rep when you're already at 5 stars and you can easily have friends and people you know simply up-vote you. Because of that, IMO, there are problems with the reputation
system on the 360, but no so on the One.

In virtually every case of someone being slighted by the reputation system, they cite their own experiences and examples. While it may mean something to them (since it's obviously become personal), I wouldn't necessarily call that proof that the system is
flawed - that, is something I'm still waiting for...

You're still assuming that people are using the rep systems as intended.

I can report you now. Unsporting conduct - "GG teabagged me after he killed me in Destiny and made me feel sad" as my comment. We both own the game, we've both been playing at the same time although not MP ( I don't play it).

The above incident never happened but it doesn't stop me from reporting it. How much effort does the enforcement team make to determine how valid the complaint is? Is enough done to determine if we were even in a MP together? What if we had been?

Now multiply the above by 100 people filing similar reports over a couple weeks for no other reason than to cause you grief. If you think that can't happen you need to stretch wings and head over to some of the more active and less moderated gaming forums
and see the dark side of our community.

This is where I see the flaw in the system. As you stated earlier there are millions of gamers and a small enforcement team. I believe that most of the rep hits will be handled by a computer and the human interaction will be minimal until someone reports
    an unjustified red rep.

wow now I know GG hasn't played much MP, you cannot play a match without hate in your heart! There is so many variables in the game, glitches, cheaters, Lag, Bad playing by both parties, people who are 1000 times better than you, again there is allot of
reasons to avoid, that is why I do believe the whole concept is flawed, its too outrageous to lump it all in one action, OR even leave it to the community NOT to abuse the report/avoid button. I like choosing original Gamer tags without resorting to symbols
    are numbers.

If you are playing a GAME and you have hate in your heart, you need to find a different hobby.

  7. I've been on XBL since Halo 2 went live. It was my favorite online game (probably of all time). I had over 8,500 MP games logged before I finally moved on to other games and I never once played a game with hate in my heart. There may have been times when
something in the game made me angry and there were probably plenty of times when I became frustrated over some things.

I play games for a lot of reasons; fun, enjoyment, entertainment in my spare time. Hatred has nothing to do with it, not even in a small way. Seriously... playing video games with hate in your heart is like trying to sell cemetery plots at a nursery. Starting
to get a sense of where that bad rep came from...

They're made when you play with peps who don't like you (based on your performance or if they're just goin' to be biased). Sure there are many variables. Older peps and those my age say I'm polite. Even I sometimes have some hate, well to put it more accurately,
unhappiness, when I'm not having a good time. I agree with some points from randver. Another solution is to stick to Single Player games and avoid multiplayer interaction, but that isn't any fun. That way your Rep should always stay good player.

  9. If you're playing games in order to have fun (which ideally should be why you're playing games) and are, unfortunately, not having any fun, then it is probably a good idea to take a break and do something else for a while until you feel more comfortable
    coming back to it.

    Randver, regarding your latest response:

I can't say I know how it works, only that I have a pretty good idea of how it works. Using your example, if you were to report me for teabagging when it wasn't true, here's what I believe could happen (to the best of my knowledge) - they investigate the
report and find it to be invalid because teabagging itself doesn't actually violate the Xbox Live Code of Conduct - so no enforcement action is taken against me. However, since it was reported, it goes on record for future reference (along with the enforcement
    action taken, if any).

So basically, an enforcement agent can look at my profile's "report" history (those that were made against me) and see how many reports were filed, what kind, and how many of those were enforced or ignored. In all likelihood, most of them would probably
be dismissed. I also believe that any report with an actual comment in it will be, at the very least, read by an actual enforcement agent.

    @GG

You're making an assumption that I don't believe is the case. MS would need a huge enforcement team to view each case and I don't think they have access to the evidence to make a valid determination of guilt anyway (except in blatant situations).

People playing FIFA are already seeing rep hits (even a thread in this forum about it). Normally two reasons people get reported in sports games....quitting early and winning. I don't see anything in place to protect the people who have done nothing more
than win a game from getting reported and having it impact them.

Make no mistake I'm not defending the people with the deserved red reps. I've been part of the online gaming community since there was an online gaming community. It's full of knuckleheads and nothing will ever protect me from them so I've learned to live
with them. What I don't want to see is them having another means to make peoples lives miserable and that's what I see this rep system having the ability to do.

Just a little over a month until the new CoD release and it's wonderful community will the ability to put the rep system to the test, then we'll see.

see your already confusing report with avoid an ITS fine for xbox to lump them all together now but wait until you get a bad rep an cant play with everyone else, lol

For the record Im all for enforcement of cheaters an people who ruin MP by destroying friendly equipment an deliberately smashing into someone..

    Bad reps,How are they made??

I don't think there's any need for a way to mark a player as "good". If you don't leave them rep at all, it's assumed that they're a good player and so if they've received bad rep, their rep will go back up over time as long as they don't continue to receive
    bad reports.
