    Bad PSU?

Getting straight to the point: yesterday I noticed my console wouldn't power up and as I was checking the connections I noticed the status LED on the power brick wasn't lit up, so I unplugged it from the back of the console and back in - nothing. Unplugged
it from my surge protector and back in - nothing. Unplugged it from the surge protector entirely and into a spare wall socket - voila, power. Plugged it back into the surge protector, everything was fine and I went on about my day.

Today, the same thing happens. This should have been prefaced with I've been turning off the console as of late because before now it's practically been on 24/7 since launch so there's little to no doubt in my mind that the brick has simply reached its end,
but I just want to confirm. Anyway, today I noticed the same thing happening but this time when I went to turn it on (the LED was still white) the power on note sounds but nothing else; the LED has turned off, it's completely blank.

I went through the same steps as I did yesterday but now I notice something new which only happened once yesterday and it's that the PSU is getting power from the wall or surge protector, but the second I connect it to the console the LED indicator fades
    out.

Just looking for some confirmation that it is indeed the brick and not something a bit more severe.

    :)

  3. Bad, just Bad

    (SPOILERS)

I agree. Those side missions are clever but rubbish - they're more like strategy games. The 'remote control' spiders annoying. The levels where you have to 'race' around are too. I could go on. I felt like I was playing Quake: ground war, Ghost Recon or
Splinter Cell at times (good games in their own right) but I want to play COD: FPS! I agree, OP....Treyarch need to stick to what they're good at!

Saying that...MP is still good (more of the same really) and zombies is excellent with a bunch of mates.

    Hello

The Xbox One powerbrick has a build in surge protector, there is no need to have an external one connected as this will reduce the power that gets through to your console.

It is mentioned in several support articles to directly plug it into the wall socket for exactly this reason.

    Support article:

    Console won't power on

    How to connect power supply

You mentioned it working if you plugged it directly into the wall so I assume this will fix the issue. I don't know why it took this long for the issues to emerge.

Let me know how it goes and if you experience any other issues feel free to create a new post

It definitely sounds like your brick has reached the end of its lifespan. I don't think a surge protector caused it to suddenly not work; built-in surge protector in the brick or not. If it's been on 24/7 since launch, that would be approximately (and this
is a very rough estimation) 20,000 hours of use which sounds about right for a normal lifespan of something like that. Grab a new Microsoft Brick and you should be okay.

POWER BRICK LIGHT TURNS RED IN THE MIDDLE OF A GAME (360 Slim)

A red light on the PSU means that it's over-heating. If it's constantly over-heating and the area is well ventilated it will need to be replaced. If a new PSU over-heats then it's either not well-ventilated or you got a fluke of a new unit that was bad--this
does occasionally happen with all technology.

Repeated failure of the Xbox 360S

There is no design flaw. If I had to venture a guess I'd say you have the PSU in a bad spot and it's over-heating and damaging the unit.

    Xbox One Power supply issue

A little update on my psu situation. I almost feel like MS is hating on me for complaining, but I feel as a customer, I'm not getting the best support which is very disappointing. I contacted MS on 11/29/13 about my bad psu. I just received a replacement
today 12/23/13. I had to wait 3 weeks while they took all of the 10 business days to process. The email they sent me said it will ship within 10 days, so I can live with it. Finally open the package, there is the psu but not the psu cord that i shipped
the psu with. No one ever told me to only ship the psu without the cord. And what if the cord was the issue to begin with? It didn't cross my mind at all to ship only the psu.

So I contact customer service via chat, and they give me a new reference number and say I'll be getting an email within 7 days. He wasn't sure if that was when the cord will ship or if they have go through more process. So basically for a bad psu, I will
be waiting over a month... No apologies or expedited shipping for making an amateur mistake. Is Microsoft serious about customer care?
