Bad power box

If your power box goes out, do not order it through Microsoft. It will come from China and, cost you 400 dollars. Amazon has them for under 30 dollars and, they are new. If you are a Prime member, there will be no postage. These ding a lings in support have
no idea what the problem is and, you cannot understand them.

Xbox 1 (s) power supply?

I have a xbox one (s) that the power light comes on then goes dim and the box shuts down, never gets to a full boot up.. Anybody have any ideas..bad power supply ?

When a selected the "Shows you Watched" box it went blank and refused to show all the shows that I've been watching.

 

Thank you for this information, I am sorry you had a bad experience getting a new power box from Microsoft. Yes Amazon does provide very good used and new power boxes.

 

Be aware however, that while the original power supply is manufactured in China (as are most electronics devices), the original power supply is made to meet certain criteria in regards to safety and radio interference.

The Chinese then strip away all that "costly" stuff like RF shielding, or use cheaper (and less safe) electronics to produce these knockoff power supplies.

Yes, you can get the power supply cheaper. But you also buy the risk of your power supply catching fire, mains voltage coming out of the low voltage cable, or the power supply messing with your other electronics because it's not properly shielded.

This is not to scare anyone into buying the Microsoft supply. But be aware, that the knockoff supplies you get cheaper are NOT the same you get as an original replacement, even though they look the same on the outside.

As long as they work, all is well, but don't come back complaining if your console is fried or your living room is on fire. ;-)

 

Unfortunately I believe the issue is that they did purchase the power box from Microsoft and said it was shipped from China, and was costly. AminatorX still makes an excellent point that there are several retailers out there that make very cheap power boxes,
that might lack some of the safety functionality that is included in Microsoft's products. Buying one used or new on Amazon is one thing, while trying to purchase a cheaper product from another vendor is a risky action.

I have learned the hard way before, make sure you buy brand name hardware!
