Bad latency on Xbox series X

So I’ve just got a Series X last week and finally got around to playing on it this weekend. I did a connection test and my download was 50, upload 10 and latency was 150+, I then decided to upgrade with my provider to premium. My new results are 120 download, 30 upload but annoyingly still 150+ ping!! I then went and bout a new router (nighthawk) and still ping is 150+!! So annoying!! When I run a direct test on my router the ping is 8 but the Xbox says differently. My Xbox and game are up to date, I’ve restarted my Xbox and my router, I’ve turned it offline and back on, I’ve tried wired connection from my router and directly from my modem and it’s always the same. Is there anyway to get this lower??

The ping depends on your proximity to the server where you perform the test, when you do it on the Xbox it is done directly to the Xbox servers, when you do it on your router it is done on the server closest server

Its normal that your ping doesn't change with different devices as your location hasn change

Is it just the test that is high or do you actually have latency issues playing games online?

A ping test may be higher when run via the connection test as it only pings a Microsoft Server. If this server is a far enough away, the ping will no doubt be higher. Whereas a ping test on your router will conduct a test much nearer to your home.

You can easily do another connection ping test on your console via the Edge browser. Just do a connection test search.

A ping is the time it takes for small amount of data to be sent from your device (console, computer, phone etc.) to another address on the internet and returned back. The time measured in MS (milliseconds) is refection of this. A good ping is between 25 and 50.

Bear in mind that most Xbox Live servers are not actually hosted by Microsoft.
