bad graphics on Xbox 360 4GB Slimline

hi,

I am having a really strange problem with my sons xbox 360 Slim 4Gb. the graphics are terrible. Bit hard to explain but all the flat 2 dimensional shapes (like the green tiles on the xbox home page) are ok, but all moving 3 dimensional shapes are all very
distorted with lines and spikes through them and this is the same during the start up and while playing games, the avatars on the home screen are also bad.

XboxS graphics problem

My Xbox slimline has developed a problem with graphics. I get a silvery/metallic sheen to everything. I've unplugged the console, checked cables but still have the problem. My HDTV is working fine so it looks like the graphics card has gone. As the call
centres are closed for the day can someone modding the forum contact me?

 

Could be your TV, HDMI cable, Console settings...

Thank you for your advise, however I have replaced the HDMI cable, Factory reset the console, tried the console on another TV and have used the alternative scart input and the graphics are still the same

 

I had this with my slim when it first came out. A call to support resulted in it being returned as faulty.

Get it swapped mate.

 

Sounds like the graphics card has gone.

You would need to send it of for repair.

 

I would definitely say its the graphics card, I have had a pc do the same as what you are experiencing, Take it back to the shop if possible

Thank you all for your replies. I have got to the bottom of it, the console is defo faulty, however xbox will not fix it under warranty as its 15 months old, bit gutted really as I have paid all that money for a games console that hasn't lasted very long.
May have to try goveringpie's idea as I don't want to give Xbox the satisfaction of repairing it. I will defo not me purchasing xbox products again.

 

No matter what you buy or who the manufacturer is, there is always a chance it`s going to go faulty after the warranty has run out.

This is very true, but some manufacturers are more giving then others. Unfortunately xbox isn't one of those.

Ive worked for many top manufacturers and they have always offered the good well gesture if a customer complains and the goods aren't too far out of warranty. A free repair costs nothing to them and keeps their reputation to a high standard.

Didn't help or give me much confident when the technician stated your xbox has suffered serious internal malfunction and your lucky it's still turning on.

That to me sounds like a manufacture issue

Anything with a plug has a standard 12 month warrenty. With the old model Xbox 360 consoles, they upped it to 2 years because of the RRoD overheating problem. (As a goodwill gesture).

The new consoles are fine, but as mentioned above, sometimes things happen.

Would Vax, Indesit or Dyson get the same amount of grief if their products went belly up after 15 months? It all depends on use mate. If the console is being used alot or even neglected, things can go wrong.

It seems that its only Microsoft and Sony that get all the bad press these days. Oh, and 80's celebraties..................................

 

15 months is not just out of warranty, it's a full three months after it expired. It's faulty, deal with it , same thing could happen to ant electrical product, and I doubt many manufacturers would offer to replace 3 months out of warranty.

 

I understand that everything has a 12month warranty, and I could understand it if my console had been abused but it don't get used that often if fact it's still in pristine condition, the fact it's suffered a major internal fault is quite worrying considering
the amount of time it's been used. I think I just must me unlucky with this xbox. It's my kids that are gutted the most as my youngest spent all him birthday money on games and now can't play them until I fork out 65 quid for a repair

There was no option for them to investigate and look into why this has happened to see if it was a component failure or why it has happened

And it's funny you should mention dyson my Hoover when faulty after 14 months and they kindly repaired it for me for free.

I have only ever had 2 items go faulty on me my dyson Hoover and the xbox.
