backwards compatible games

Now this could just be me but I'm sure everyone has their opinion about what games should be backwards compatible so I'm voicing my opinion for a certain game that I found out that got its first game backwards compatible and that is "mercenaries playground
of destruction" but I don't see mercenaries 2 the second squeal from the first one isn't compatible. What I'm saying is why? the first one is good but I mean if you are going to bring back the first one and not add the second one is stupid imo, I absolute
love this game and would love to see it come to backwards compatible too it only makes sense to bring the second one also since they already did the first one, basically I'm complaining on here to just do it and want to see if others are there with me on this
discussion and if there is any other game that they brought back but not the one you want out of the squeal of games you know? I recall there was a xbox voting for backwards compatible games and would love to vote for mercenaries 2 to come to it but I can't
found it at all reason why I'm here typing this :-} well anyways if anyone does see this then tell me if you agree with me or just state what games you really want to come to backwards compatible.

and every day is adding more and more i hope some day all the library are compatible.

 

yeah they are adding more games sooner or later down the line and soon hopefully mercenaries 2 will come as well it's just i see that the first one is there and they didn't even bring the second one but they did it for other games like dragon age and mass
effect you know so I thought they will follow that way with other games like in this case mercenaries playground of destruction I think its called and they didn't bring mercenaries 2 world in flames after that. I don't see it being that hard to bring the second
one since they did it to other games and they already did it for the first one.

I understand what you're saying, but you're oversimplifying the process.

It's not completely up to Microsoft what games become BC, the ultimate power is with the developers/publishers. Even then, the game needs to be repackaged for the Xbox One platform. This isn't a quick process, talking months to produce and then fully
test by the BC team.

Then, there's the issue with licenses. Who fully owns the title, developer or publisher? Is there any other licensed content in the game? You may find this strange, but if just one licensed music track has expired, a game can't be made BC. Some games
can be a minefield when it comes to licensing.



Mercenaries 2 isn't available to buy digitaly for the 360 anymore, which suggests potential legal issues exist for this title.

More game will be coming, There was a place where you could vote for games but that has now been removed. It is now down to the Game Developers and Publishers to allow Microsoft to make them backwards compatible.

 

The best we can do at this point is make some noise around the games we want to see and get in touch with the development team/publisher directly. Microsoft cannot dictate which games make into the BC program, and as mentioned, with licensing issues and
such, some games will never make it on regardless of how much the fans and devs want to do it.

So the best course of action would probably be to hit up the dev team on twitter or their forums and let them know there's interest in it.

 

ultimately it is up to the publishers not microsoft

as they have to relicense the games and stuff like music in them so its not as simple as adding games
