Backwards compatible games & region

My code for Fallout 3 will not work. Presumably from my region (US) not matching my actual location (UK). I'm in the military and don't think I should be punished for living overseas by not being able to play these games. Same thing happened with Gears
of War UE. I still pay for everything with American credit cards. Xbox needs to really fix the region locked Xbox 360 games.

Original Xbox Game Won't Play On My Xbox 360

Scrub that, after some Googling I found that strangely Project Zero isn't backward compatible in PAL regions. Annoyingly Fatal Frame as it's called in the States & Japan and is the exact same game is backward compatible.

 

Backwards Compatibility Issue

Yes, in some regions some backward-compatible games do not work with an Xbox OC. Try to change the console region in "Language & Loation" section and try again.

 

It's not really punishing you

You have to.releize that a international laws control content

Due to.the content controls put in place by governments like gears of war you account region must reflect your actual region

 

Certain games cannot be published I. Certain regions because a the amount of violence exceeds acceptable Lil's or in the case of Germany the amount of violence and content rating makes it impossible to advertise the game

Because of the refusal of a rating the game can't be published

 

Strange my fallout4 game was brought from a different region and my fallout 3 code redeemed fine. I was under the impression digital has no region coding

 

No content has region coding due to international laws

Which are laws not something that are optional

 

Yeah i get why they're not available. But Gears of War and Fallout are available in the UK so thats not the issue. The issue is my account region and actual region don't match. I could probably redeem the codes if I switched over to a UK region but thats
a big hassle for me since I would have to pay for everything in a different currency.

 

UK has gears but the UK version not the US version

You can only download the UK version not the US version while in uk

 

If it is a temporary visit don't migrate because as soon as you move back to the US you will lose access to it

You are better off having someone at home in the US like family and don't use a friend to queue it then wait till you get home

Whats the difference between the UK & US versions?

 

One has PEGI rating and one has ESRB rating. Sometimes though, the music used can be different due to licensing the audio so there can be more than a rating board difference.

btw, when you migrate your account you don't lose any games. I had a UK account and moved to the US and migrated my account. Only thing I lost access to was films I had bought on Xbox Video.

You do get some odd things happen though, like the Minecraft promotion where you got it free on Xbox One if you owned it on Xbox 360. It didn't detect I owned the 360 version as I bought it when my account was UK, so had to re-purchase Minecraft for Xbox
One. I could and can still play the 360 version of Minecraft on my 360 though.

 

Cool guess i'll just try and migrate my account and switch back again as soon as Xbox lets me
