Backwards compatible games and cloud saves

A little background to this issue: At the beginning of the year, I had an problem with some backwards compatible games on the Xbox Series X not downloading saves from the cloud. I attempted to delete and then redownload my Xbox 360 profile to fix it -- only to find my profile would not download due to "problems with my login credentials". This led to a very length back and forth with technical support that spanned a couple of days. I also posted on this forum. No one was able to help me with the issue. About two weeks later, the issue resolved itself

Now back to the cloud saves. Yesterday I started up a game that previously did not sync with the cloud. It was the game that led to the issue above. For some reason, as of yesterday, it started syncing with the cloud. All my saves were present in the game.

Now I must ask what would cause a game not to sync? There's no way to check what is saved to the cloud. There's no way to force a sync. And given that the last issue revolved itself without anyone at Microsoft understanding why, it doesn't give me much hope here, but I have other games that do not sync and wish to resolve the issue.

I think it goes without saying that I am not willing to delete my 360 profile, perform a factory reset, delete the cache, change my router, or try another internet provider. None of these things worked before and were a massive waste of my time. Not to mention I had done none of those things yesterday when my game started to sync.

If anyone could shed some light on this, I'm sure there are others that would be interested to know. As things stand, the whole cloud system is a nightmare. I cannot see the benefit of giving the user zero access and zero control over it.
