    Backwards Compatible Game Not Owned


    Hi,

    I have a game (Skyrim) installed on my Xbox 360 (From a download code). When i go to try and load up the game on my Xbox One it comes up with a message saying that I don't own the game and tries to direct me to the Store. The game still runs fine on the
    360, and it had been working on the One last year. Any ideas? Cheers.

    Thank you for reaching out to us on the forums with this question, you can find more information on how to play your Xbox 360 games on the Xbox One console by following the support article below.

    You may also already own digital games that are backwards compatible, for this you can take a look at the following to find any backwards compatible games you might own. I will also be providing a link to the list of all backwards compatible games.

    you own them on disc, you can use the disc, otherwise, any games you already own digitally will be available in your games and apps as ready to install. Since the 360 Kinect is not backwards compatible with the One, Kinect games are not compatible.

    Hi,

    As some additional information. to the answer already specified.

    The backward compatible game while it is the same game the download is basically different version of the game, being the backward compatible version of the game. This is also the reason why inserting a backward compatible game via disc will result in the
    backward compatible version being downloaded (disk is still required to start the game)

    So in order for you to download that backward compatible version you will have to login to the Xbox Live Account that is used on the 360, which allows you to download backward compatible games that you own.

    Yeah, that changes it. That games is not backwards compatible (https://www.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/backward-compatibility/available-games) so you would have to purchase the One version in order to play on the One.

    Your download history on the One would be the Ready to Install section of your Games and Apps. Anything you own for the One or any backwards compatible games you own would be listed there.
