Backwards Compatible game discs won't work in my Xbox One

Hi,

I have tried Gears Of War 1, 2 and 3, Fable 2, and Prince of Persia 360 discs in my Xbox One. Every time I try them I get an error message that says "Make sure you are using an Xbox One game, a music CD, or a movie on Blu-ray or DVD. (0x80820002)"

I have tried restarting the machine but none of them will work.

360 backwards compatible game disc not reading

My xbox one not reading any xbox 360 backwards compatible game discs was told to report on here for help but I no it won't happen.

Xbox One Disc reading issue

My one year old Xbox one doesn't read any backwards compatible Xbox 360 discs, spins for 2 seconds and stops , doesn't even attempt to spin , and then it will not eject , all games tried are backwards compatible. Xbox one discs read and spin with no issues,
has anybody else experienced this problem ?

Have you checked out our
Xbox One Disc Troubleshooter? Give the steps on that page a go and let us know what the results are. Also, could you try an Xbox One game disc to see if you get an error as well? That will help us a bunch.

i had witcher 2 going but it no longer works. none of bc games work with disc. the optic drive they put in these consoles suck.

Having this same issue with black ops 1. Any fixes? Works normally with xbox one games and it installed halo reach just fine a couple weeks ago. Did the hard reset and the issue still persists.

Hey, guys! This error is a disc error. You will need to try the troubleshooter that Mister Beep linked to above. If that doesn't help you out, you will want to try a DVD in your Xbox One (not a Bluray). If DVDs don't work, too, then your disc drive is failing
and you will need to get your console repaired. Let us know how it works after trying the DVDs!

Is this a joke? Every game works fine. Except of the bachward Compatible games.

And you say your Console could be having problems.

What a Nice Support Microsoft, it remebers me a little bit of the DayZ Standalone Publishers.

Because everytime you criticise them you get banned or blocked.

Fix your Problems Microsoft, with all Backward Games, because it sucks hard that i cant play reall nice old games

chill out I got day one edition and the disk drive went a nacker ages back, tries to read then says insert disk on everything... digital only for me now I mean expensive

Only the disc version is backwards compatible. A digital copy won't work.

Hi there,

you will need an internet connection in order to Install these games, the games won't be run from the disc, but backward compatible versions will be downloaded and installed. You will require the disc to play the games after they were installed though.

Also since you are offline your console could also need an update itself to make backward compatibility work.

A Series S doesn't have a disc drive, so it won't read any discs.

That game is not backwards compatible so it won't work on a newer console.

Obsessive Power

If it's not backwards compatible (and this game isn't) then no, it won't work. You can view the backwards compatibility list
here. If a game is not on that list, you can't play it on an Xbox One.
