Backwards compatibility?

So there will be a Halo collection coming out for xbox one, that means games going back to the original xbox. Any chance of an extension to other games or is this just them showing that they can but only if they want to.

:)

Backwards compatibility?

If they did add backwards compatibility Microsoft would probably do something like Sony did with Playstation now. Honestly I think the entire reason why they didn't try to add backwards compatibility on either system is since they switched to x86 they would
essentially have to create an emulator and they don't want people to rip it from the console and easily create a PC emulator.

Um I am not sure you get what the new Halo collection is. If it were backwards compatability then you could just pop in your old Halo discs in an xbox one. 343 went back and completely remastered the original games.

The switch to x86-64 isn't the problem the problem was they didn't want to do it at the hardware level so now (unless they introduce it into new consoles, in which case your still out of luck) yes an emulator would be necessary but seeing as I could just
plug in and xbox controller for the same controls on computer ripping it from the console is pointless.

As for it being remastered, they could have just done another engine overlay for the new Halo 2 version. Anniversary was an engine overlay so the old architecture was still there, 360 already had backward compatibility by then so it wasn't an issue of redesigning
the whole thing just graphical overlay. So then yes it is an issue of are they going to just port what old stuff they can to a new engine for xbox one or have some sort of backwards compatibility function.

What does the new Halo Collection have to do with b/c?

Old games to a new console, fit the pieces together.

And again just because they remake a game doesnt translate to b/c. They remade a game big deal. How do you go from remaking a game to b/c? If they decided to make Halo for WiiU does that mean you can play all xbox games on the WiiU? Thats the type of logic
you are using.
Old games to a new console,
It's not an "old game to a new console", they're HD remakes. The engines have been ported over to run natively on Xbox One.
There are no "pieces" you can fit together
here. A HD remake is not emulation.

11. Every system could be BC. But this is the age of corporate greed, and if there isnt a buck to be made. You can swear to be danged corporate greed will not allow it.

Take Halo CE, and Halo for example. Both playable on the Xbox 360... IF you were willing to pay 75 bucks extra for an Official Xbox Licenced Hard Drive. If you didnt buy an Official Xbox HDD. Then no BC for you.

^^ You act like you couldnt buy a 360 with an official HDD already. As far as every console being b/c? Sure they could be but then that cost would be passed onto the consumer. See PS3 as the best example.

The Halo Collection is a complete remake of the original games specifically for the X1. I wouldn't consider it BC, but it is possible for game developers to remake the games to release on the X1.

14. 24hrs You act like a MS insider on paTROLL in these particular forums, and every time I post you, and others like you seem to crawl out of the woodwork in an effort to call me out, perhaps to get me banned, or failing that, have my posts removed to (04 Bad
Post Graveyard) Go figure!

But for arguments sake... Which sold more. The 4GB Xbox 360's? or the "Official" 250-320 GB Xbox 360's?

Of the best selling Xbox 360's did none licensed HDD outsell by at least 2 -1 the Official Licensed HDD?

Now, on the HDD's that weren't "Official Licensed" for use in the xbox 360's. Could you play Halo CE, or Halo 2? (Both games originally released on the 8gb Xbox) Yet on the "Official Licensed" HDD (75 bucks more for) you could play them could you?

Honest answers to all those questions = My point exactly!

So as you, and anyone else can clearly see. Corporate Greed is the ONLY reason why BC isn't an option. Except in (Possibly coming soon) "pay to play" YOUR OLD GAMES eh.

Do try and have a nice day. Backwards compatibility? ;)

Well I dont have official numbers but Id put money on the 4GB consoles not selling as much as the old white consoles, the elite console. Its probably doing better than the 250GB E version but thats only due to price. And what you call corporate greed as
far as having to have a hard drive, thats MS protecting their investment. Who would seriously buy a 4GB console and never upgrade the HDD?

And I am not on patrol. You just say such nonsense all of the time. You think that a game needs to be 50GBs for it to have a lengthy campaign. You also said Titanfall was 1GB. You also think that both MS and Sony will do away with the current chips for better
ones. Stop saying stupid stuff and Ill stop making you look stupid.
