Backwards Compatibility Will Not Connect to Xbox Live

This is a definite issue from what I have seen in the threads. None of the locked official threads mention it.

This is my experience. I put in my Gears 3 disc. Downloaded it. Opened it up. Everything worked slick. I was able to invite friends to play and join into other games. My account was at level 57, just like it used to be back in the day.

I shut XB1 off via controller and left to pick up my son from Daycare.

Turned console on via controller this evening and when I open up Gears 3. It will no longer connect to Xbox Live. It just signs me into my profile (now at level 1). If I want to do anything else, it tells me I need to sign into Xbox Live. When i do that, it
tells me my connection to Xbox Live has been lost. Which is silly, because I am logged in perfectly fine to my account on XB1.

Things I have done to remedy it?

1) Soft shut down with controller.

2) Hard shut down with pushing button on console for 5-10 seconds.

3) Unplugged and waited 30 seconds.

4) Updated 360 to newest update. Set my Gears 3 Data to the cloud.

5) Uninstall/Re-install several times.

6) "Quit" Gears of War 3 via menu option.

Been trying to resolve this for about 3.5 hours now. Kind of a waste of my night.

My Account won't stay connected to xbox live on backwards compatibility.

I'm having a problem with backwards compatibility. My xbox live account disconnects from xbox live when I attempt to log in on the 360 menu on backwards compatibility for Xbox one.

Backwards Compatibility Issues Connecting to Xbox Live

Yeah. There are several threads with this issue. It's not just Gears 3, but a general issue with backwards compatibility I believe.

I am having the same issues. Can't wait until there is a solution.

The weird thing with me is that I actually WAS connected to Xbox Live for about an hour. I shut off my box, and signed in later only to not have it connect to XBL on the backwards compatibility.

Sorry to hear about the issue! Just to clarify, does the issue occur only with Gears of War 3? If you haven't already, I suggest trying to Remove your account
from your Xbox One console, followed by adding your account again. If the issue continues to occur, be sure to let us know. Thanks!

Yes, I'm unable to connect to Xbox Live on the 360 through backwards compatibility.

I'm currently having the same exact issue. I can't connect any of my backwards compatible games to Xbox Live on my Xbox One. I've restarted twice and checked my internet. Neither of these are the issues. My NAT is open and evrything else is fine. I can't
connect to Xbox Live on backwards compatible games at all!

Hi there,

please double check if your Xbox One console is fully updated (and connected to Xbox Live) since this is a requirement to install a Backward compatible game.

When using a disc the backward compatible game will still be downloaded from Xbox Live, since that is the backward compatible version (it will require the play disc to be inserted in order to play the game)

Since you mentioned discs, please be sure to insert the correct one (when console is connected and is updated). that usually should trigger installation.

I'm having the same trouble concerning the connection to Xbox Live whenever launching any backwards compatible game.

Just make sure that your console is connected to Xbox Live when you are trying to install a backwards compatible game, even from disc, as all backwards compatible games need to be downloaded, not installed from disc.

Also it is up to the developers of games to decide if a particular title is made Backwards compatible or not, feel free to reach out to them and ask about making their game(s) backwards compatible too.
