    Backwards Compatibility to 360

I wasn't able to find a search option. So anyway, I tired of fixing my 360 and thinking of upgrading to a One. Is the Xbox One backwards compatible with 360 games? If so, is there a list of which games from the 360 that can be played on the One? Thanks.

    -Alex

  7. It'd be nice if some sort of backward compatibility was added, so many great games will be forgotten because they can't be played on the current hardware.

Currently I'm playing Final Fantasy 8 on my phone while at work (during my breaks) using a PS1 emulator.

I know emulation is a difficult thing but surely with the talent at Microsoft they could at least get Original Xbox games running on the One.

  9. ^ They can, it happened during the Original Xbox to the 360 days. Yet as long as gamers are more than willing to fork over their hard earned $ twice for the same games on separate systems, made by the same manufacture. Not going to happen! And in order to
milk you dry, they'll give you every excuse under the sun as to why they can't do it. Yet CAN'T never could do anything!

Conclusion: You VOTE with your $ nowadays people. If you quit spending $ on their NEWEST system. They'll make so many changes that you'll be able to play every 8GB/360 Xbox games ever made on the Xbox One.

  10. I imagine most "top games" from the 360 will at some point be remade and remastered for the xbox one.

Easy money for the developers and microsoft, it wouldn`t make sense from a business stand point to ever make it backwards compatible.

  11. ^ Sure it would.

Example: Last I checked, Halo Combat Evolved (8GB Xbox game) was available for download for the 360. And that is the Bungie version complete with exploitable glitches, and not 343i's remastered remake. Which, to an original Halo CE gamer since launch. Is
as boring as all get up.

Now, how much $ would M make selling the X1 as BC, and listing those old games for sale on the XBMP? - Answer = More than they make now with COD-AW sold on the 360, and upgraded to the X1 for FREE.

  12. But going by those statements you're ignoring the fact that the Xbox 360 is PPC hardware and the Xbox One is X86. Do you understand how hard it is to emulate a 3.2GHz tri-core processor? Even a top of the range gaming PC wouldn't be able to emulate the
Xbox 360 at full speed. The Xbox One has got no chance.

I still have difficulty running PS2 games on my mid range PC using emulation - the PS2 came out 15 years ago!

Many of these re-releases are coming about because the games were also released on the PC. The Xbox One and PS4 are based on PC X86 architecture, so why not modify some PC games and re-release them on the current machines? No one is forcing you to buy them.

    Backwards Compatibility to 360

2 years from now backwards compat will be a fart in the wind... no one would care... seem like only the people that seem to have traded their 360 away to afford an X1 are the ones so deep set on BC... TBH.. my 360 has been turned on 4 times since I got
my X1. and that was to game with a broke friend who cant afford a 1 yet

^^ Hardware constraints will be a fart in the wind... IMO... not the desire to play the old game libraries.

People are getting too hung up on hardware. Just look at some microconsoles with their modest hardware, streaming last gen triple A games, and at your local ISPs that're probably working on laying fibre in your area. If they're not doing it now... it's only
a matter of time until they will be.

There's no reason, in a couple of years, that you can't be streaming your digitally owned original Xbox and 360 games directly to your One, Windows PC, tablet or maybe even phone... no emulation required.

The cloud will make up for what your device lacks.
